Farewell Dave

Farewell Dave

To a longtime friend who I have known since our days at Nortel... RIP buddy.  You were a good friend, and true professional in our industry.  Rest well...you will be missed.-------\

David B. Halpern - February 06, 1959 - September 21, 2016

Dave is survived by his wife, Darlene, two daughters, two sisters, a niece and nephew, four grand-nieces/nephews, two dogs, and one scaredy cat. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend; and loved by everyone that met him.

An avid boater, he loved to spend time on his “Parrot Dice” yacht as often as possible. The boat was aptly named for the love of his pet parrot, “Alex”. He was very proud of his work with the Pompton Lakes First Aid Squad, and of being from New Jersey, in general. He previously took annual golf trips with his friends, and had wonderful adventures doing so. He always spoke highly of his parents and sisters as the loving family that raised him to be such a wonderful man.

He loved the Jets more than some men love their spouses, though not quite as much as he loves Darlene. He had felt much love for people before, but often stated that Darlene was his perfect match, complementing him in every way. Upon their marriage, he happily accepted two daughters into his family, though we all considered each other family before there was an official ceremony. In times of annoyance, he would often exclaim “What did I do in a past life to get stuck with three blondes?!” and then smile, letting us know he loved us.

While Dave was not with us nearly long enough, he made a lasting, happy impression on everyone in his life, and has left this world with more love than it had before he was in it. The stars will not shine as brightly without him here, but we know he is not gone, and he will be watching over us (and rolling his eyes at us) from a much better place.

Dave- you will be missed more than you ever thought possible.
