Farrer Park Hospital opened with a call for healthcare changes to adapt for an ageing population

Dr. Timothy Low, CEO of FPH, said the hospital is technologically ready and will embrace “disruptive innovation” to improve efficiency and create value for their healthcare services.

“[FPH] is a smart hospital,” said Low, with smart systems that allow doctors to access patient information like laboratory test results on their mobile devices.

New technologies in FPH could also help reduce the amount of procedures needed, which might eventually translate to reduced cost and pain for patients, Low added. For example, less invasive computerized tomography (CT) coronary angiograms to view blocked vessels rather than catheterization, or more comfortable mammogram machines that use curved plates and emit 30-50 percent less radiation.
