Finding Common Ground: Warren Ballentine’s New SiriusXM Show Aims to Heal Divides
Well-known radio host, author, and speaker Warren Ballentine yesterday launched a new show, Common Ground, on SiriusXM's HUR Voices channel 141. HUR Voices is managed by Howard University's WHUR 96.3/Washington.
As the show is described, "Common Ground addresses some of today's most pressing issues with diverse voices from both sides of the political spectrum." Ballentine (left) notes, "We need to have important conversations from a higher perspective, embodying light, love, and enlightenment, where there is no arguing or finger-pointing."
Common Ground is co-created and produced by media vets Gary Bernstein and Rick Party. Bernstein, President of Oceanic Tradewinds, said,
"In today's challenging and rapidly changing environment, it's crucial to bring political parties together to find common ground on divisive issues. Who better to lead this effort than Warren Ballentine, a nationally renowned syndicated radio host and respected independent thought leader?" Party added, "Listeners can expect enlightening discussions each week with key leaders from both political parties, as well as significant contributors from the spiritual community. We aim to provide content that expands awareness and shifts perspectives -- like a refreshing breath of fresh air."
HUR Voices GM Sean Plater commented,
"We are delighted to welcome Warren Ballentine to our line-up of award-winning shows. We know that Common Ground is just the right fit to further explore issues affecting everyone -- especially communities of color. Ballentine will present the facts on various topics, allowing listeners to make informed decisions. His depth of knowledge as an author, motivational speaker, attorney, and historian makes him uniquely qualified for this role."
Common Ground will air weekly every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1pm ET. Bernstein will also make the show available to terrestrial radio stations barter-free -- email gary@oceanictradewinds.com.
The Story Behind the Birth of Common Ground:
Sometimes, new media content arrives with purpose—right when you're called to serve a higher mission. CEO of Oceanic Tradewinds, Gary Bernstein shares below...
"Before my strength training sessions, I usually stretch in the sauna at my local gym. About a month ago, I witnessed a particularly intense argument in that very sauna. A far-right college professor and a left-leaning software engineer were going at it. What began as a debate quickly devolved into a condescending and almost embarrassingly hateful exchange—between two people who were supposed to be intelligent.
After about 20 minutes, I stepped out to my locker and noticed a call coming in—from Warren Ballentine, a talk show host I once syndicated but hadn’t spoken to in nearly five years. He told me he had a vision: to launch a new radio program that brings people together and focuses on real solutions, instead of just stirring the pot.
" I half-jokingly asked Warren if he was clairvoyant and somehow following me. It didn’t surprise me when he said he wanted to include a spiritual component in the show—to take the conversation to a more meaningful place. With expert production guidance from the legendary Rick Party and the support of Sean Plater and SiriusXM, we created Common Ground in under a month. It now airs every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1 PM on the HUR Voices Channel 141.
When you're being used as a vessel to spark the conversations that truly matter, you must use your platform and knowledge in service of a greater mission. Common Ground with Warren Ballentine is timely, necessary, and spiritual nourishment we all need to consume—and share.
