Former Google deepmind team launches Gibran AI with $2.6m funding round led by Together fund

Startup to build AI that augments Human Autonomy

Together Fund is proud to announce its lead investment in the seed round of Gibran, an AI research and product company reimagining how artificial intelligence supports — rather than replaces — human creativity and autonomy.

Co-founded by Govind Balakrishnan, Edgar, Srikant Chakravarti, and Suzanne Sadedin, Gibran is building a new class of scale-free AI systems — models that evolve, adapt, and collaborate with humans in open-ended, creative ways. Unlike traditional automation tools, Gibran’s AI draws on principles from natural ecosystems and complex adaptive systems to augment how people think, decide, and create.

The Gibran founding team brings together a rare blend of science, systems thinking, and creative engineering. Suzanne is a renowned evolutionary biologist and complexity theorist with deep research credentials; Srikant is a systems builder with experience across AI and distributed platforms; Edgar is a researcher, engineer and AI expert exploring the frontiers of generative systems; and Govind brings product and design leadership, storytelling, and go-to-market acumen from his years building and scaling mission-driven ventures.

Together Fund’s investment reflects a deep alignment with Gibran’s mission. With the fund’s operator-led DNA and deep expertise in scaling global AI-native startups, the partnership aims to help Gibran accelerate both research and real-world applications.
