Forward Thinking in Action: Helping Ross Seymour Keep His Farm Moving
Ross Seymour is no stranger to hard work. A long-time Morobean businessman and former Member for Huon Gulf, Ross runs his cattle farm in Chivasing, Markham — just over an hour’s drive out of Lae along the Okuk Highway. Alongside farming, he also operates businesses in the trucking and haulage sector.
At the 2024 Morobe Agricultural Show, FinCorp partnered with Brian Bell Agriculture to showcase solutions for the farming community. It was here that Ross connected with our team, led by Daniel Kutuapi, to explore financing options.
For months, his plans to purchase a new tractor — a much-needed replacement for an ageing machine — were stalled while he waited for other financier feedback. Progress seemed stuck. “I was happy to reestablish my lending relationship with FinCorp and I’m looking forward to growing this partnership,” Ross explained, reflecting on the delays and how much the support meant to him.
That’s when FinCorp stepped in with a different approach. Instead of waiting, Daniel and the team proposed a forward-thinking option that worked for both Ross and Brian Bell Agriculture. By restructuring the deal, settlement went ahead, fulfilling Ross’s financing needs while also strengthening our ongoing partnership with Brian Bell. As Daniel put it: “Farmers and businesses in the agriculture sector often take a laid-back approach, but with the right tailored support and product education, our partnership with Brian Bell Agriculture makes it easier for them to access equipment and finance that helps grow their business.”
On 11 July 2025, Ross’s loan was settled that unlocked his purchase of a Kubota M8540 tractor with canopy. For Ross, it meant keeping his farm moving. For FinCorp, it was another chance to prove what sets us apart: not just lending money, but tailoring solutions that move businesses forward.
This deal carried big meaning as it showed how listening, adapting, and forward thinking can bring value to both our partners and customers. And for Ross, it was the confidence to keep building on the work he’s poured into his farm and his community.
