From Visa Rejections to Visionary Mentorship: Why I’m Calling Forward 100 Women Ready to Lead

From Visa Rejections to Visionary Mentorship: Why I’m Calling Forward 100 Women Ready to Lead

I landed in Austria in 1997 with a suitcase and zero chance of getting a job thanks to visa restrictions. Fast forward two years, and I was not only working at Swarovski but, within six months, promoted to Brand Communications Manager for two departments in the B2B segment. By the time I left, my “job” was split between six people. (Yes, six. And yes, I thrived on it.)

Then came the ad agency gig—landed the day I found out I was pregnant with my first child. Did they care? Not a bit. That’s when I started my long-distance studies in industrial and organisational psychology, inspired by the shocking lack of leadership I’d witnessed.

By 2008, I was pregnant with my third child and launching my first business. Cue the plot twist: a software partner in South Africa scammed me out of €50k. That pain? It turned into learning: coding, website building (remember Flash sites?), and pioneering social media and email marketing in Europe. I hustled, connected globally, built a business from scratch, authored two books, spoke on international stages, lectured at universities, and even patented my own methodology.

Things were buzzing—until they weren’t.

2019 was supposed to be my big pivot: a talent agency and an events business. The first event in South Africa was a hit. Then COVID hit back. Hard. My accountant of 10 years ghosted me, leaving me with a €150k tax bill. My marriage crumbled. My kids struggled. My business, finances, and family all fell apart.

I’m not here to sugar-coat it: things got dark. Really dark. I lost my father, my business, my money, my marriage, my friends, my sense of self. I’ve had my back against more walls than I can count. And yes, there were days when I questioned whether life was worth it—having already faced that darkness at age 12.

Here’s the thing: the only thing that got me through was the very methodology I created and patented. My “why,” my values, my vision, my mission, my soul tribe—these weren’t just business buzzwords. They were my lifeline.

Instead of searching for answers outside myself, I doubled down on looking within. I trusted my intuition, even when the world around me made no sense. Healing isn’t linear, and entrepreneurship sure as hell isn’t easy. You need resilience, discipline, and a belief in your vision that borders on delusional.

That’s why my mentorship isn’t about quick wins or empty motivation. It’s about the long game—helping clients with big, audacious visions break them down into actionable steps and actually make them happen. Every client, every mentee, comes back to the same questions: Who am I? What’s my purpose? What am I supposed to do with this life?

Finding those answers is what moves you forward. It’s what builds trust in yourself and in the process.
