Game of Phones
It is so simple- it's literally staring me in my face. My phone - that is. As an on-line trainer I have been so engaged in marking my student's assessments and giving them feedback via emails and having written 'discussions' that I sometimes forget the power of connecting with another human being through an actual conversation. I received a request from a student support advisor today to contact a student. I immediately looked for the student's email address and then saw the 10 digit magical thing that actually connects two people- my student's mobile number. I then proceeded to call the student and in an automated manner to resolve whatever queries he had and was almost ready to sign off with 'Regards' when the student in the most sincere manner said 'Thank you for your call- I really do appreciate speaking with someone who's helping me shape my career'. That moment. It made me feel like a million dollars. What it also made me realise is that in this digitalised cacophony sometimes the soothing panacea of a simple phone call to connect with your students/clients/customers just goes a long way in building a lasting relationship with them. So, pick up the phone and connect with the people who matter. Because it Matters.

10yI think we all are guilty (from time to time) of forgetting the importance and impact of a call or connection. Thanks for the reminder Shireen Noble.
New Chapters are exciting
10yNice Shireen Noble A well penned reminder of the difference a little human interaction can have on all of us. Little wonder so many forward thinking companies are finding ways to eliminate email in favour of more collaborative means of communication.
