The official programme begins!
United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and Foreign Minister of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis joined co-chairs Patricia Danzi, head of the Swiss Department of Development and Co-Opperation, and UNDRR's SRSG Kamal Kishore to officially open the 8th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The second and final of the Preparatory Days wrapped up the Global Early Warning for All (EW4All) Multistakeholder Forum and the Third Stakeholder Forum on DRR, and featured the one-day World Resilient Recovery Conference – energized by the performance of "Komando Bidon" drumming up support for resilient recovery.

Its time to get busy!
With the official programme now in session – not to mention a jam-packed agenda of informal events – GP2025 has a lot on to keep you busy! In the programme we have a panoramic range of thematic sessions, dialogues, ministerial discussions, multistakeholder plenaries and special events.
There will be plenty of action and innovation throughout the week at the Ignite Stage, the Innovation Hub, and the Learning Labs. Plus we have two award ceremonies – presenting the RISK Award (today, 4 June, at 18:15) and the Sasakawa Awards (tomorrow, 5 June, at 18:15). And don't miss our art exhibition – which you can find at the main entrance, just past security.
Get all the events, times, locations – and links for live webcast sessions – in the online agenda:
Have you made your Gender Pledge?
DSG Amina Mohammed has made her mark for gender inclusion – adding a pledge to the Gender Pledge Wall. Get down to the Gender Pledge Wall and Inclusion Hub (Espace Ruth Dreifuss on level 0) and add your voice to the call for equitable and inclusive disaster risk reduction.
Can you Stop Disasters!? Are you game to try?
A wildfire is about to sweep through your outback community!... a tsunami is threatening to engulf your coastal village!... a flood is going to wash away your town! Do you have what it takes to plan for resilience?
Test your disaster risk reduction skills by growing your own thriving, disaster resilient settlement – and then watch as it faces down the hazard. Visit the Stop Disasters! game booth on level 0 at GP2025 to find out more... and get gaming! Stop Disasters! is now available in seven languages – and we're looking for volunteers to translate into more.
Our ambition? To secure a hopeful, resilient future for the next generations
But will the leaders of today have the vision and courage to reduce disaster risks – to pass a safer world on to the leaders of tomorrow?
Sustainable development is disaster resilient development
Catch up on the conversation, as Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed and SRSG Kamal Kishore discuss why disaster risk reduction is pivotal for meaningful sustainable development.
