GOOD IDEAS FROM CAROL - 167
As it’s so hot this week again, here are a few tips about coping, because your business will be more effective if you’re not constantly stressed and flustered:
GOOD IDEA 1
Remember the CIA acronym. C is for things you can control, I for things you can influence and A for things you just have to accept. The weather is an ‘A’- we can’t change it, so need to devise strategies for dealing with it (By the way, there’s also an information-security model where the letters stand for Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability, but that’s another issue altogether).
GOOD IDEA 2
Have a strategy. My hot-weather strategy is staying in cool places, allowing air-flow by opening doors and windows to provide a through-draught (or keeping them closed it it’s really oppressive outside), having a portable air-con unit, soaking my wrists in cold water and using.a cool-scarf (a special material that you can soak, wring out and shake and it stays cool – or reverts to cool once you shake it again).
GOOD IDEA 3
Wear suitable clothing. Breathable fabrics are great,. And many workplaces have flexible dress-codes to allow shorts etc. where appropriate.
GOOD IDEA 4
Allow time. Rushing around in hot weather is tiring and not helpful to your metabolism. So allow time between appointments, avoid scheduling too much in your day and give yourself adequate time to relax a little between activities.
GOOD IDEA 5
Avoid stress. Stress can be exhausting and even more so in hot weather. So keep yourself out of situations that are likely to be trying, have some effective breathing strategies and think positive thoughts. It really pays off.
See you again next week.
