Growth Means Goodbyes.

Growth Means Goodbyes.

I used to think I was being an a**hole. Friendships were fading, invites stopped coming, and text threads went dead. It stung. But it wasn’t about being rude. It was about getting real with what I wanted, where I was going, and who I was becoming.

Back in the 2010s, I had a mate I was close to. We were thick as thieves. Weekends, laughs, long chats. Then he got married into money. The lifestyle flipped overnight — designer clothes, boutique brunches, first-class trips. I didn’t fit. I wasn’t offended. I just couldn’t match the pace, the polish, or the price tag. So I was slowly phased out.

I told myself I was being dramatic. That I should just accept where I stood. But years later, as I’ve changed and grown, I’m now the one shifting. I’m more focused on the kind of life I want — building a business that supports flexibility, freedom and flow. I want to work with people I actually enjoy, in ways that feel good, not draining.

And that means I’ve got no interest in emotional ping-pong, power plays or fake small talk. I don’t make a big scene. I just don’t engage. Quietly, the phone rings less. And I’m okay with that.

Your goals will pull you in a new direction.

It's not rejection. It's realignment. When you get serious about where you’re headed, you naturally start noticing who’s helping you move and who’s slowing you down.

You start spotting the emotional vampires, the gossip addicts, the subtle manipulators. You stop laughing off comments that sting. You stop ignoring behaviours that drain you.

Instead, you value the people who ask, "What are you building? How can I help?" You lean into the ones who want to grow, not just coast. The ones who meet you at your energy, not demand you drop yours.

This isn’t some superiority trip. It’s just evolution. The old you would’ve bent over backwards to please everyone. The new you? They’ve got boundaries. And they’re not up for debate.

You're not losing people. You're just getting clear.

Not everyone can come with you. And they’re not supposed to. That doesn’t make you heartless. It makes you honest. You’re allowed to outgrow people, places and patterns.

The friendships that feel weird now? That’s because you’re not vibing on the same frequency anymore. They were part of who you were. But you’re changing gears. So your inner circle shrinks — and deepens.

You’re not ghosting. You’re conserving energy. And that energy? It’s going into your goals, your peace, your growth. Into doing more of what matters, and less of what doesn’t.

You’re not cold. You’re focused. Focused people feel different. And that’s okay.

The right people show up when you get real.

The transition is weird. You might feel lonely. A little detached. You start realising that you’ve been defaulting to whatever relationships were around, not the ones that actually fit.

But if you had a clean slate today, who would you choose to have around you? Who would challenge you? Cheer you on? Show up?

Start with being that kind of person first. Don’t wait for others to model it. Be the one who supports, encourages, and doesn’t drag others down.

Your energy builds your environment. The more you act like the version of you that’s living the life you want, the faster that life gets built.

This isn’t about burning bridges. It’s about building better ones.

That's it for this week. A short read about how moving on isn't about being an a-hole. It's about moving up to where you need to be. If you are not resonating with my emails, you can unsubscribe.

Even if we know each other, I won't be offended at all.

But if you like what you read, the greatest compliment you could do me is to pass this email on to someone you think could use it.

Have a great week ahead. ✌🏽

I like this… I wish I had known this a few years ago… as it can be a lonely path when we break out of our current status quo. For a while I felt like I didn’t fit anywhere…because I couldn’t be the old me anymore but I also hadn’t grown into the upgraded version of myself. But now… I feel like I am used to the growth.. I have got comfortable being sometimes uncomfortable.. Lastly, my best learning from your post… make decisions from the version of yourself that you are aspiring to be. Have a great Saturday
