How to Achieve Ultra High Performance
Neuro Athletes,
If you want to level up and stay ahead of the game, the goal is simple, albeit idealistic: to optimize performance.
Health is central to this objective, but it extends beyond diet and exercise. Here, the science of recovery and cognition are essential.
Sleep is an unlock. And self-mastery is a parallel pursuit, where excellence is the endgame regardless of the domain.
Whether you’re an athletic trainer training the greatest athletes on the court or a physical therapist rehabbing the athletes and preparing them for game day.
In 2023, one thing is for sure, there is no excuse for not knowing the science of human performance.
Not an athlete?
Think again. We’re all athletes, you just don’t train like one.
Why?
You don’t know how.
As a neurophysiologist and human performance coach working with the biggest athletes and teams in the world, I have observed that the competition is getting tougher and tougher with each passing year.
To stay ahead in the game, it is imperative that coaches level up and understand the science of human performance.
But how does that apply to you?
If you’re like the 50% of my clients who are corporate athletes (investors, bankers, portfolio managers, executives) then I’m going to let you in on a secret.
One of the most important areas of human performance is recovery. It is not enough to simply train hard; athletes must also know how to recover effectively.
That is where the science of recovery comes in. You must understand the benefits of cold thermogenesis and saunas, and incorporate them your training regimen.
Each day on instagram I am reminded that people don’t understand the science of these recovery protocols. The invention of the ice bath has lead social media influences to throw their athletes in them right after a training session - blunting the effects of training and getting no benefit.
Cold thermogenesis, or the exposure to cold temperatures, has been shown to have numerous benefits for the body, including reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and increasing energy levels.
Saunas, on the other hand, can help to promote relaxation, improve cardiovascular health, and aid in muscle recovery.
By incorporating these recovery techniques into their athletes' training routine, coaches can help them to perform at their best, day after day.
Another important aspect of human performance is cognitive performance.
Coaches need to understand that training the brain of their athletes is just as important as training their bodies.
By incorporating cognitive training into their athletes' routine, coaches can help them to improve their focus, concentration, and decision-making skills, which can ultimately lead to better performance on the field.
The brain is like a muscle - it needs exercise to stay strong. Incorporate regular cognitive training sessions into your athletes' schedules to see improvement in performance.
Remember, training the mind is just as important as training the body. Investing in your athletes' cognitive development will pay off in their performance on the field.
10/10: Stay ahead of the game by incorporating recovery and cognitive training into your athletes' routines. Your team will thank you for it!
I’m going to leave you with one of my favourite quotes- "The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital." - Joe Paterno.
Stay healthy,

2yGreat read Louisa. Think most people would agree with you that training the mind is just as important as training the body for athletes. But a wild difference in practice.

2yWell said Louisa Nicola 👏 Good day! that’s why our work, on assisting the strategy and decisions with software, takes care of both the translation from the science and the organizational feat of proper training (not just exercise) whereby recovery and other activities that you highlighted can be scheduled and rescheduled on purpose. No excuse, love that one! True for all humans. Learn. Transform. Perform.
