How to Build an AI Agent for HR (No Code)

How to Build an AI Agent for HR (No Code)

~ Satyajeet kadu

Are you still buried under a mountain of resumes, manually shortlisting candidates, and juggling interview schedules? What if you could automate all of that, from the moment a resume hits your inbox to sending the interview invite, without writing a single line of code?

In this blog, I’ll walk you through how I built an HR AI Agent that automates the entire screening and interview-scheduling process. But before we jump into the how, let’s talk about the real pain points I heard directly from HR professionals.

The Problem

After speaking with countless recruiters and hiring managers, here’s what kept coming up:

  • Too many resumes, too little time Going through every incoming email is overwhelming. Research shows that recruiters spend just 6–8 seconds scanning each resume before deciding whether to move forward. And for a single hire, they end up spending 23 hours on average reviewing resumes manually (Source).
  • Inconsistent screening Filtering candidates based on skills, experience, or location is not only time-consuming but often inconsistent, especially without standardised criteria or tools.
  • Manual scheduling mess Setting up interviews takes more time than it should. Endless back-and-forth emails create friction for both HR and candidates.

In short, what used to take 8+ hours per week for a single role can now be done in minutes using Supervity’s Workflow AI Agent. And yet, many teams are still stuck in a manual loop.

The Solution

To tackle this, I built a No-Code HR AI Agent using Supervity’s Workflow Agent.

Here’s what it does:

  • Monitors your inbox for incoming resumes.
  • Reads and analyses resumes based on your chosen criteria (skills, experience, location, etc.)
  • Shortlists top candidates.
  • Automatically schedules interviews, end to end.

All accomplished without writing a single line of code, and in under 10 minutes.

Here’s how to build it!

  1. Login to Supervity AI | No-code AI Agent PlatformSupervity AI | No-code AI Agent PlatformSupervity AI | No-code AI Agent Platform with your Gmail/Microsoft Outlook Account.
  2. From the sidebar, click “Create AI Agent”, select Workflow AI Agent from the available templates, and give your agent a name and description of your choice.

3. Once you’re inside the agent workspace, you’ll notice the Supervity AI Coach in the bottom-right corner. This is a chat interface that lets you build entire agent workflows using just plain English.

Here is the prompt i gave to the AI Coach:

Create an AI Agent, which will be acting like an HR Proffesional

I then clicked on the Prompt Enhancer button, which polished and expanded my original prompt into this:

Create an AI Agent that will act like an HR Professional.

This enhancement makes the prompt more structured, helping the AI plan a better agentic workflow and improve tool selection and execution.

Here’s the workflow Supervity AI Coach generated for me:

Now, there were a few tweaks and configurations I had to make to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Configuring the Workflow

  1. Each step in the workflow may ask you to connect your tools — like Gmail, Outlook, or Google Calendar. You can easily authorize them using OAuth with just a click.
  2. In my case, I switched from Gmail to Outlook in the final step. Why? Because it made more sense for the candidate to receive a reply from the same account they originally sent the email to.

Here’s how my fully configured workflow looked afterwards:

After this, I went into each step to ensure everything was set up properly. A few steps needed additional instructions — but thanks to the Prompt Enhancer, all I had to do was describe my requirement, and it generated the optimal prompt for that step.

It even understood the broader context of the workflow, which made my setup much faster and more efficient.

Once saved, the workflow runs automatically whenever someone sends an email with a resume attached.

Here’s the test resume I emailed to my Outlook account from Gmail:

It was a proper, professionally formatted resume, not just a basic docx file. Just like the ones HR teams actually receive.

And here’s the automated email I received back after the workflow ran:

Thanks to Supervity’s audit trail, I could see that this entire sequence, from resume received to interview scheduled, happened in under 5 minutes.

That’s the power of AI Agents and Agentic Workflows in Supervity. By using just simple, plain English, HR professionals can unlock superhuman productivity, or as we like to call it, #Supervity

If you want to try this exact workflow, I’ve uploaded the JSON template [here]. Just import it when creating your Workflow Agent, and you’ll be ready to go. You can customise the shortlisting filters, tweak the steps, or even build new agents for other industries — like logistics, customer support, sales, or finance.

Conclusion

Supervity’s Workflow AI Agent makes it incredibly easy to automate repetitive tasks — from resume screening to scheduling interviews, all without writing a single line of code. Whether you’re an HR professional overwhelmed by volume, or part of a growing team looking to scale smarter, these agents can help you reclaim hours of your time.

This is just one of many possibilities. With a bit of creativity, you can build agents for lead qualification, appointment setting, onboarding workflows, internal approvals, and much more.

If you’re ready to streamline your operations and put AI to real work, this is where you start.
