How to build a connection with an Avatar?
This is what the talent of the future faces- a chat and an avatar to talk to!
It’s truly great that we have all means of technology to stay connected in this challenging and harmful time. It’s a blessing, how else should we otherwise be able to perform and keep the world turning as they say. (I find it funny since also without us the world would still turn).
We as experienced professionals who are settled in life, have found their career path, ideally their inner theme and passion can cope with this situation. Not every day is even great but we get there.
What makes me thoughtful is the impact of this crisis on our future talents. Why am I saying that here and why am I posting this? Simply to create awareness.
How to build a connection when all you have is a chat and an avatar?
These two pictures I took yesterday on a virtual Study in Holland fair, dediciated to potentials from (South-East) Asia.
THIS is what the talents of our future encounter right now. Digital booths with digital avatars and the option to chat with an avatar which is of course not a robot but an university employee. Physical fairs are overwhelming already, but there you can feel each other and look each other in the eye, you can make a joke, laugh with each other. Not addressing the cultural differences which you have to keep in mind, language barrier included.
Future talents- they are so brave
I have deep respect of those who leave their home country, family and friends to strive for better career opportunities. Isn’t that brave? I spoke to a young man from Korea. He’ll turn 18 in March 2023, already planning to study Mechatronics.
We have to realize and recognize that we have a responsibility to the next generation. They’re facing a hard time. And there I’m not just talking about international students making their career choice. It also applies to the young lady and boy in your neighborhood. It also applies to the current students who suffer insecurity, loneliness and fear about whether they will find a job in this crisis time. Will they find an internship? Or how they can make a living when they lost their part-time job.
Please be mindful to you and the ones surrounding you and be attentive to ideas and possibilities how you can support our future talents. It’s not about them, it’s about all of us.
Thanks to Study in Holland and Nuffic who still enable us to get in touch with each other in the best way possible and connect globally. Despite those weird times you still keep building the future and opening up opportunities.
Take care and be safe!
