How to Negotiate a Work-life Balance with Your Family and Yourself - Huffington Post

Finding a balance between work and family is a little art and a little science. It can take years, and I have seen many suffer from broken relationships, high-stress home lives, success at the high price of not seeing one’s kids grow up, and other misfortunes I decided when starting a business I didn’t want for myself.

In this contribution to The Huffington Post, I discuss a few secrets I've learned along the way on "How to Negotiate a Work-life Balance with Your Family and Yourself." Read the article by clicking the image link above, and leave me your thoughts below in the comments. Read the full article here.

Though not a CEO but a busy person with a strong desire to have that balance , only and important thing I found in the article is that "this desire" is same but what makes difference is being persistent and discipline to stick with what decided earlier.

Couldn't agree more, Faisal Busy executives have no problem managing hectic schedules. One has to make a conscious decision to treat personal commitments (family, work out time, personal time, etc) with equal priority into the schedule and be no less willing to alter those commitments than any other commitment. I would add this behavior sets an important example for employees. I recall at one point requiring employees to identify at least one personal goal into their annual review process (like you French lessons or guitar goals) and then telling them that as a company we would do what we could to hold them accountable for reaching those personal goals in the same way we did their professional goals. Well balanced people at all levels of an organization is the key to longevity.

There's almost always a conscious choice to be made on everything in life and often leaders and managers behave like there isn't one available on the personal front while at the same time uncompromisingly pushing their people on the work front to make business choices. Thanks for sharing.
