How to Nourish Yourself One Step at a Time.

The first thing that needs to change is our attitude towards food. I look at it this way. The food I consume is either going to enhance and nourish me or it's going to do the opposite. It's that simple. Yes, indulging in delicious food is one of life's great pleasures, but we need to understand the tradeoff of taste and mouth pleasure for longevity and vitality.

The second thing that needs to change is our understanding of the power of nutrition. Nutrition is a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle. Once we begin to eat better we begin to sleep better, our mood improves and our workouts get better. There have been many times when have just felt "off" then when I go back and look at what I have been consuming it's no wonder!

The next step is simple. First of all the reason, so many people fail with new diets or workout goals is because they bite off more than they can chew. If you're serious about genuine long-lasting change then take your time. The transition may take months or even years. As long as you're moving in the right direction then you're on the right track, I mean even reading this article is a step in the right direction.

Slow and steady wins the race. Start by making easy substitutions of things that you know aren't good for you. For example sugar. If you're starting your day with a coffee and dropping two teaspoons of sugar in, that's the perfect place to start. The goal eventually is to cut the sugar out of your coffee all together but start by just adding one teaspoon. Slowly work up to eliminating it altogether. The same goes for butter on sandwiches, sugary sauces like ketchup and many other things we add to our food every day. It's small changes like switching to brown wholegrain bread rather than consuming hyper-processed white bread. It may seem like a small thing but over time the accumulative effect of these changes adds up.
