The hunt is on: Today's material innovations, tomorrow's solutions...
Call for UK innovative materials based R&D
We're in a fast paced, rapidly changing world. Open design, the ‘internet of things’ and digital manufacturing have the potential to radically change the market for construction and refurbishment of buildings. Advances in material science can help built environment professionals and supply chains to meet these shifting demands by enhancing products and services to be healthier, more structurally robust to weather extremes, less resource intensive and, where possible, to have a net positive environmental impact.
We're on the hunt for today's innovations which will provide tomorrow's solutions so, if you know of a material/material process/technology in development, pass the details of this call on. We have seminar programme slots and workshop opportunities particularly for those at the very early stages as well as some display opportunities for innovations a bit further along in development. For a chance to be shortlisted, you must apply by the deadline of midday on the 19th September.
It's not all about new materials, integration innovations needed too!
As we look ahead, particularly to the retrofit challenge, we'll need to look not just to advances in new materials but to improve their integration with the old materials that constitute our existing buildings.
Today’s innovations in material science need to be combined with design expertise and new market models of manufacturing to ensure that the UK continues to be a world leader in delivering tomorrow’s sustainable built environment solutions.
We've teamed up with Ecobuild to make sure cutting edge advanced materials science based research makes it straight to the trade show floor. Help us by spreading the word!
Details: Call deadline is midday on the 19th September, if you have a number of products, just complete a separate entry for each one. Enter here.
We are particularly keen to hear from EPSRC funded researchers and those that have made use of EPSRC facilities such as The Hive facility, part of the University of Bath’s BRE CICM centre
