IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Services at #WWDC20

At IBM Think Digital in May 2020, you may recall that IBM announced the IBM Hyper Protect Software Development Kit (SDK) for iOS available in the Apple CareKit open source github community.

For my team, this was a big step forward to expand the ecosystem of IBM Hyper Protect Services – enabling developers to build healthcare apps running on Apple devices with features that address unauthorized party access to their data in the IBM Cloud.

This week at Apple #WWDC20, Apple made updates to Carekit and highlighted this integration as they showcased their new Syncronize APIs for CareKit. We have contributed and open sourced the code that provides this simple and easy integration for CareKit applications to use Hyper Protect Virtual Servers and Hyper Protect Database-as-a-Service as a persistent back-end into the Apple Carekit GitHub

What does this mean? Now, iOS developers building applications that leverage personal health data shared in the cloud can rest-assured that the data is being protected by industry-leading IBM LinuxONE security and scalability delivered via IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Services.

But protecting highly sensitive data is not just a concern in healthcare – security and privacy must be top of mind for every industry, which is why we’re seeing an increasing number of use cases for IBM Hyper Protect Services around the globe. In case you missed it, it’s the same technology that helps make IBM public cloud the industry's most secure and open public cloud for business.

This is just the beginning – and I hope you watch this space to hear what’s next.
