Igniting Leadership Potential

Igniting Leadership Potential

Recap of the 2024 everywoman in Tech Forum - March 14th 2024 - London

Key Learnings and Take-Away out of this full-packed day in London

#1 Acril Chester´s Keynote “What it takes to get into senior leadership and how to have impact once you get there”

This session promised to inspire, motivate, and empower to reach new heights in our own career and leadership endeavours.

And it was an inspiration and confirmation in many aspects such as:

  1. The importance of “Listen to yourself”

  2. Ask yourself the question “How much do you want it?” e.g. when it comes to take a new chance

  3. Reminder that it´s so crucial to reflect on your own Imposter Syndrome situations when you hear yourself asking “Am I really ready?” -> Listen to yourself and reflect that you might be your own barrier

#2 Mentorship circles

In this new format I have signed-up as Mentor and I meet such great likeminded mentees and we had a great discussion around leadership style and skills, career planning and advancement, and confidence.

I´m so impressed and inspired after that. The Mentees came so “hungry” and super well prepared with awesome questions. This was again a confirmation that Mentoring is a truly WIN-WIN and worth any single minute of time investment. I truly enjoyed it.

#3 Case study panel: How new tech is being used by the frontrunners

with our amazing Emily Barrett

Emily and all of the other Panelists presented case studies as top innovators sharing how they have deployed new tech in the business, the lessons they have learnt and the processes and rules they have put in place to safely deploy and leverage cutting edge tools such as: Generative AI, Digital twins

It´s important for all of us to ask us the question: Do we want to be “Disrupted” or should we be the ones “Disrupting”?

#4 Power-Hour “How to be strategic in your tech career” with Tara Rule

Tara shared a great tool, structure and template which she calls RULES Book, which supports in creating and getting

  • A personal brand statement

  • A clearer understanding on who you are. Your strengths and your passions.

  • Exciting goals you’re setting yourself

  • A clear direction of travel and your roadmap

  • Your pathway to success

When have you asked yourself the last time the question "What is your zone of genius?"

And finally and so much fitting to my own Trigger "I´m All-In, always All-In": 10/10

#5 Panel: Tech leadership styles: tapping into your strengths to become an engaging, authentic leader

  • Do we need to emulate alpha male qualities to be leaders? How can we normalize diverse feminine leadership styles?

  • Turning your strengths into leadership super powers

  • Tackling affinity bias at the top levels of an organization

  • How to be a visible role model for other women aspiring to climb the corporate ladder

  • Using seniority as a platform to enable other women to rise

I found the discussion about what are new KPIs about great Leadership most interesting.

KPI Proposals came up such as

  • People Want to work for You

  • People succeed and grow

  • People Follow Leaders

  • Leaders are great who create a Team who complements them by adding different strengths

#6 Closing Keynote with Sally Kettle: Adventure Awaits – Stepping Up & Into the Unknown

As a professional adventurer Sally Kettle knows a thing or two about stepping into the unknown! Having rowed across the Atlantic twice, and then embarking on a career as a professional adventurer, she’s faced life threatening situations in many remote regions around the world. She also knows the path into leadership can be draughting – her story demonstrated that, with a little bit of courage and boldness, you too can take seemingly risky decisions and change the course of your life.

And it was great that as part of our Partnership with everywoman

so many Lenovo delegates met F2F together combined with the broader Networking Opportunity of this event meeting people from so many other companies within the Tech Industry
