Imagine Five Lessons from Phoenix
The “imagine” theme at Dscoop Phoenix is truly appropriate, as its hard for me to imagine digital printing without Dscoop. By definition, Dscoop is all about imagination!
Dscoop is a powerful reminder that owning an HP Indigo, Latex or PageWide Industrial solution is more than a having a digital press – it’s about joining a family of digital innovators and imagineers. It’s a family that creates truly unique and innovative customer products and really push our HP presses to the max – often times beyond what we envisioned. It was an exciting week in Dscoop Phoenix, and I hope those who attended share my takeaways:
1. Camaraderie and Cooperation
Dscoop is THE place to meet the top experts in digital print, reconnect with old friends and make new connections. That spirit of cooperation, the sharing of inside information and hands-on tips and tricks, reflect the members true desire to help each other succeed. It was also reflected in the team building activities which were not only constructive, but fun as well. This spirit of cooperation has not been lost on HP where coordinating workflow on multiple Indigo presses has never been easier using HP’s PrintOS cloud based print management platform. Whether its industry colleagues or digital presses on the shop floor, improved cooperation and coordination increase efficiency and open new opportunities.
2. HP Indigo rocks commercial printing
Jim Belushi and his Blues band was a hit! Coming down into the audience and dancing with the team really made it personal. The same can be said for the leading HP Indigo 12000 digital press. With over 500 units shipped worldwide, the 29 inch format is making a “big” impact enabling new personalized applications such as calendars, posters and greeting cards. The whole process can be automated with web-to-print solutions providing personalized products which are ordered, printed and shipped all within a few hours. Commercial print continues to evolve and digital print applications continue to fuel growth.
3. Predicting the future of Labels and Packaging
Mentalist Lior Suchard as the emcee was really a “mindful” choice. He really amazed the audience with his ability to “read people’s minds” and make incredibly accurate predictions. While I should have asked him about the future of Label and Packaging printing, visitors were treated to the latest in HP Indigo’s solutions for labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons. I don’t think we employed any mentalists, but we certainly listen to our customers and leading brands to deliver print solutions which allow converters to meet tough brand requirements and leverage our core technologies to drive the future of digital package printing.
4. Flash appearance for industrial applications
The flash mob dancers in the main hall got everyone dancing! That’s a bit like the appearance of Latex, a Sign & Display solution, at an event dominated by commercial printers and packaging converters. Between the 8 x 20 foot banner hanging from the rafters and the eye-catching wall mural on display, these print providers seem to catch on quite quickly to the advantages of HP Latex. It also presents sign printing as an interesting option to grow their business and provide a single source of print applications for brand customers who want indoor banners, outdoor signage and vehicle wraps to match their latest campaigns.
5. Jetcomm signals advancement of high speed inkjet
Having Jetcomm and Dscoop together in the same event was a real breakthrough. Truth be known, 60% of HP PageWide Industrial customers also own an HP Indigo. High speed inkjet is becoming mainstream for high volume, high speed, roll-to-roll applications that incorporate variable data and can not be handled cost effectively by offset. Its becoming clear that HP PageWide Industrial T200, T300 and T400 series are becoming an important part of leading commercial printing firms digital press portfolio.
I’m sure you had your own impressions--the beauty of Dscoop is that everyone takes away their own unique experiences. If you didn’t make it this time, then do yourself a favor and make sure you sign up for our next event and don’t miss out on the opportunity to come up with your own top 5 takeaways for your print business. Let’s keep on re-inventing!
