IMAGINE
Why do people set goals? Whether you want to go on vacation, buy a car, own a home, get a degree, advance in your job or solve a global challenge, goal setting is a way of prioritizing your resources; time, money and creativity to accomplish a desire. However, between where we stand and the future we want, there can be uncertainties and doubt.
There is an old Irish saying that goes something like this, “The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know.” Its meaning suggests that it’s smarter or at least safer to exist in conditions that we already know than to wade into the unpredictable and potentially dangerous future. Evolution may agree.
Survival is hard-wired into the DNA of plants and animals. Human beings have a special alerting device which causes us to pay immediate attention to those things we perceive as dangerous. Because, before we can ever thrive, we must first survive. And herein lies the problem. We are prone to imagine the possibility of danger prior to imagining the possibility of success.
There are some simple hacks to override our natural tendency to get anxious about the future. For instance, have you ever heard that one good way to calm anxiety is to focus on your breathing? Don’t we breathe naturally? Of course. But focusing our thoughts on inhaling and exhaling keeps our imagination from focusing on fear or the awful. Pretty simple!
Around 50 years ago, Lou and Diane Tice assembled the best researched hacks for controlling one’s imagination in order to attain their desires. These techniques became the basis of The Pacific Institute’s curriculum and global acclaim. As children, we were great at using our imagination to create. We created friends, futures and worlds. Somewhere along the way, people seem to fall out of practice using their constructive imagination.
If you want to reinstitute the joy of living like a child again, get ahold of me. Unleash the creativity necessary to accomplish your goals and imagine the possibilities.

1yJohn, believe it or not I've learned more from the teachings of Lou and Diane Tice than even I am truly aware of. Both through their books and also from listening to you all those years (even when I acted as if I could of cared less.) I find myself reciting to friends, colleagues and sometimes complete strangers ideas, techniques and just general knowledge I learned from them through you. My favorite has always been the story of Pygmalion and the King of Cyprus. It was and still is what helps me explain myself whenever I need to do a little self examination. I also still, when confronted by a million problems, pick just one, deal with it, and them move on to the next one etc.etc. l say these things partly as a way to say thank you for helping me to see a better way but also to state to any of you reading this that John is one of the most intelligent people I've ever met and I know some really intelligent people. If you're on the fence at all about anything this man can teach you, believe me he can. If you knew my story you would understand this comment better and know like I do that if you are looking for better answers this man WILL help you find them.

1yJohn, I love this, and it's so true. "However, between where we stand and the future we want, there can be uncertainties and doubt." Those doubts sometimes sabotage us from reaching our goals. How do we live in a sage mindset? TPI allows us to make that conscious effort to do so.
