INNOVATIVE COST SAVING HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

The crowd at Hospitals like AIIMS are mind boggling. Now we have to think whether we have any other option to reduce the footfall at hospitals and give space for critical patients.

To my simple mind I think that Yes we can, only thing is we need to bring some innovations, utilise the technology and reduce the crowd and give space to  Critical care patients.

New normal have changed the way we do anything. Many of the patients who are visiting such super Speciality hospitals may be treated online through using video conferencing technology we may have following step by step action which I am sure  will improve Health management system

1. We should have video conference technology integrated with healthcare infrastructure.

2. The solution should be utilising the features of Service Plus which is already under implementation and all this should be onboarded to Umang platform. It need to be mentioned that Umang platform already has many of the schemes onboarded and the app is being used by large number of citizens.

3. Once this video conference technology and integrated platform is available the patients should have option to approach the concerned doctor.

4. The interface between patient and the doctor may be facilitated by some mechanism viz. Startups,  NIC , paramedical trained staff , who will play an important role in this regard. If required NSDC may train such people with 1-2 week training.

5. After a patient upload his past prescriptions  through drop down menu to the desired hospital and doctor along with report the same may be collated Doctor wise Hospital wise by the facilitator. He aggregate the data, make brief report and takes appointment of Doctor. It may be at an interval of 3 days- 4 days that he meets the Doctor with the data record and request of patients from whom requests have been received.

6. Through video conference technology he may facilitate interaction with all such patients and at a time through online mode many number of patients can be treated remotely.

7. In case of complicated cases the doctor may ask for personal appearance of patients and accordingly he may be advised.

8.  Once facilitator completes the process at one doctor He may move to another Doctor with all such details of the patients to be taken care by another Doctor. Facilitator may be trained department wise say cardiac so that he understands basic problems n reports related to that.

9. This way highly qualified doctors will be able to treat a large number of patients remotely, while there will be minimum inconvenience to patients and the super Speciality hospitals will be able to give more time to critically ill patients.

Post Corona there is going to be revolutionary changes in the healthcare management As may be seen, many innovations are taking place in private healthcare system viz online consultation, at home lab test, online delivery of medicines is very much being used. Today on E-Commerce platforms we can easily see how services are being provided by companies like 1MG, Medlife Pharmeasy, for online consultation also many companies have started showing their presence.

Why there is a need to change government healthcare system is just because of its Pan-India, presence, availability of huge trained manpower and infrastructure which needs optimising. Now it is the time to leverage this infrastructure with innovations and technology.

This all can be done within the existing budget and resources.
