Introducing reauthentication from Passbase

Over the past few weeks and months, our product and engineering teams have been working on the biggest update to the Passbase API. Now almost live, I wanted to take the time to talk about one of the features that make me and the team the most excited for this release; re-authentication.

Talking with our clients, we’ve identified a number of issues that their repeat users face. The biggest one is how to make sure that a user (who’s sometimes about to complete a transaction resulting in a lot of revenue for the company) is the same one who has signed up or used the service multiple times before without lengthening the process.

This is precisely where reauthentication comes in. Having verified their identity once, a user can access your product by taking a quick selfie, no password required! After the initial verification (usually during onboarding or ahead of the first event requiring identity proofing), the user’s document and biometric information is securely stored and then accessed again only as requested.

Reauthentication is available on web and mobile in all of our SDKs and if you’d like to learn about its other use cases (for example, account recovery, age verification and more) head over to our blog!
