Involvement in good causes – worldwide

“We live responsibility.” This was our motto on Audi Social Day 2023 when around 1,000 employees from our Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Győr, Brussels, and San José Chiapa production sites, and Audi Business Innovation in Munich and Audi Interaction in Berlin and Potsdam, volunteered for good causes. They demonstrated that being good neighbors and showing corporate citizenship (CC) through action is what corporate social responsibility (CSR) is really about.

All research carried out in this field in recent years has clearly shown that customers expect CSR and CC from companies they buy from. For instance, in a May 2021 publication, the World Economic Forum stated: “The message is loud and clear. Today, consumers around the world expect businesses to play a positive role in society and feel that when it comes to driving positive change, brands bear as much responsibility as governments.” Additionally Boston College discovered: “Research reveals that strong corporate social and environmental performance is no longer simply a ‘nice to have’ element of a company's overall strategy. In today's global economy, corporate responsibility is a business imperative.”

Adventures for children, enhancing care and refugee homes, planting trees

This is also a core belief for us at Audi: following our principle of human centricity, we reach out to our customers, neighbors, and all our stakeholders. And it’s not only the company’s management – it’s everybody working for Audi.

The initiatives on Audi Social Day covered a wide range of issues. In Ingolstadt, for example, Audi employees spent a fun day climbing with siblings of severely ill children. A special guest joined them – Felix Neureuther, a former World Champion skier and Audi brand ambassador, who also introduced his foundation's project, "Beweg dich schlau" ("Move smartly"), for kindergarten children in Ingolstadt.

In Neckarsulm, volunteer employees and the Audi Women’s Network implemented a beautiful roof garden at a local care home. In Brussels, one of the many initiatives centered on a local association that aids refugees. At Audi’s Hungarian site in Győr, employees renovated a center that distributes charitable donations to people in need, whilst in San José Chiapa, Mexico, responsibility was shown for environmental protection: volunteers from the Audi site planted 210 trees native to the region in a local park. And these are only a few examples of all the magnificent initiatives in support of good neighborliness that happened on Audi Social Day.

Good neighborhood projects and corporate social responsibility at Audi

But initiatives like these are not restricted to our official Social Day – they take place around the world, all the time. With the support of our Audi Corporate Citizenship departments, many of our employees commit themselves to charitable action, good neighborhood initiatives, or promoting inclusion. Also, Audi has long since been committed to create a barrier-free world – not only for people working at Audi but also for its customers. We also follow this principle at our four modern Audi Charging Hubs in Nuremberg, Zurich, Berlin, and Salzburg, which are barrier-free. On Audi Social Day, these efforts culminated in another great initiative: Audi employees toured their local areas to check the wheelchair accessibility of various locations via Wheelmap – a leading app for identifying and listing barrier-free places all over the world.

As a company, we are proud to see so many Audi employees involved in causes like these. Needless to say, we support them because we as a corporation have a responsibility to our communities and neighbors worldwide. We united on Audi Social Day as a true “Team Audi” to live up to this and keep doing it every day.
