IoT and vision technologies for the security industry
1. Challenges in the security industry
1.1 Stay ahead of the criminals
The challenge for security companies is to stay one step ahead of the criminals, continuously improving their security measures to protect their customers and assets.
1.2 Improve business growth with new service offerings
The silver economy is coming of age with more than 20% of the population in Europe being over 65 years old.
With their solid customer case, equipment already installed in homes and backend operations working, the security company are extremely well placed to address the market of stay-at-home elderly people.
2 CSEM IoT and vision technologies
2.1 About CSEM
CSEM is a Swiss technology innovation center developing advanced technologies with a high societal impact, which it then transfers to industry to strengthen the economy. The non-profit orientated, public-private organization is internationally recognized, and works to support the disruptive activities of companies in Switzerland and abroad. CSEM operates in the domains of precision manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable energy. To accomplish its mission as gateway between research and economy, CSEM's 600 employees from 44 countries collaborate with leading universities, scientific institutions, research institutes, and industrial partners. With its six sites in Allschwil, Alpnach, Bern, Landquart, Neuchâtel and Zurich, CSEM is active all over Switzerland.
2.2 Technologies
Small footprint facial recognition system
With real-time performance (7 fps@QVGA) and tiny memory footprint (<10MB), this is one of the smallest facial recognition systems. Other advantages include low power consumption, self-improving recognition algorithms and stand-alone software with no external dependencies.
Low power and high dynamic camera
CSEM is involved in silicon design for imagers as well.
