We’re excited to share the day one agenda for this year’s Transnational Education Conference!
This members-only day opens with a scene-setting session from UUKi Director Jamie Arrowsmith , followed by a practical refresher on key tax considerations in TNE ventures, led in partnership with BUFDG experts Andrea Marshall, Julia Ascott, Rita Akushie ( University of London) and Georgina Romano (University of Birmingham). Expect clear guidance on navigating in-country tax issues, avoiding costly surprises and strengthening the sustainability of your global strategy.
After a networking break, the spotlight shifts to comms management in TNE. Hear from sector leaders including Louella Houldcroft ( University of Nottingham), Laura Davies ( University of Cardiff), Cristina Chapman ( University of Nottingham ) and Joanne Carr (University of Liverpool) as they share first-hand insights on managing complex communications challenges in an era of heightened scrutiny.
We will then close the day with an address from our networking partner StoneX Payments before the evening drinks reception.
And that’s just day one! Day two opens to the wider public, offering an even broader mix of breakout sessions covering all things TNE, plus more chances to connect and collaborate.
We’re delighted to highlight Jisc’s day two session where Dr Tabetha Newman and Elizabeth Newall will reveal the main findings from their second research publication on the digital experiences of TNE staff and students, along with recommendations for the sector. Insights will be shared on the lived experiences of TNE staff and students across four key digital challenges first identified in Jisc's earlier report (July 2025): connectivity and device ownership, access to digital learning materials, cultural expectations, and digital capabilities. We’ll explore what these mean for institutions striving to provide equitable learning experiences globally. Don’t miss this session for the chance to hear the headlines from Global education and technology: insights into transnational student and staff digital experiences, with key recommendations!
Join us this year for practical insights, peer-led discussion, and invaluable networking – everything you need to strengthen your institution’s TNE offering.

This members-only conference is all about collaboration, fresh thinking and practical takeaways.
We’re delighted to reveal the preliminary agenda with two exciting UUKi-led sessions.
We’ll be kicking off the day with an update session where UUKi’s own Charley Robinson and Suraj Modhvadiya will share the latest insights from our policy and lobbying work, the political and policy context, and what UUKi is doing behind the scenes to represent the sector. With space for an audience Q&A, this will be a chance to hear the latest thinking and feed into UUKi’s ongoing advocacy ahead of further engagement with government.
The interactivity continues throughout the day with Charley leading an afternoon session on the new BCA metrics – and what they mean for your institution.
Together we’ll dig into the big questions:
· Will the new framework change your appetite for risk?
· How could it reshape diversification strategies?
· What support should the sector demand from government and the Home Office?
With impacts set to vary across the sector, this is your chance to share concerns, spot opportunities and help shape the advocacy agenda.
Don’t miss your chance to hear from Charley and other expert speakers at the conference. Make sure your institution is represented in these key conversations!

Don’t miss your chance to help shape the agenda! We are currently inviting session proposals, with a strong preference for those incorporating student perspectives. Submissions should be made by 16 September 2025, with early applications encouraged as spaces are limited and reviewed on a rolling basis.
