Join the 40-Day Challenge to Reset Your Daily Habits

Are you ready for the 40-day challenge?

Last week I talked about the Dog days of summer and how they relate to your business. How to get your business back on track so you are not only covering your operating expenses during the summer, but you’re also planting the seeds to have a great fourth quarter.

Today’s blog is about how you are going to get your personal habits back on track so you can continue to be a great leader not only at business, but also at home.

I found myself in the same predicament after coming off of a 10-day trip traveling between North Carolina and Tennessee. In addition to multiple other trips earlier in the year, keeping habits has been challenging. Although I’ve been maintaining some of my habits, I certainly have not been maintaining all my good habits.

One of my favorite parts of the podcast is when I ask the podcast guest, “What habits do you do on a consistent basis to make yourself great?”

Here are some of my favorite answers from The Measure Success Podcast.

  • “When I wake up in the morning, I get up and dance for a couple minutes and think positively…it has been a game changer.” - Idan Shpizear, CEO 911 Restoration
  • “I get up early and take a walk through nature.” Nicholas Hutchison, CEO, BookThinkers, Author
  • “For you to build a habit, you have to break another habit.” Dr. Amir A. Rashidian, CEO, Author, Speaker
  • “You have to think about the habits you want to start, the habits you want to stop, and the ones you want to keep going because you think they're healthy.” Rob Kall, CEO, Cien.ai
  • “I exercise every morning, eat the right food, get at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night, and continuously work on your relationships.” Bill Carmody, CEO, Author,
  • “I do some form of reading every morning, certainly on the weekend.” Kenny Green, CEO, Terrane
  • “My first hour of the day is always doing my Bible study.” Don Lindsey, CEO, Precision Manufacturing
  • “I am focused on the habits of investing in my team on a consistent basis.” Alex Rawlings, CEO, Podcast Host, Raw Selection
  • “The best habit I have cultivated in my adult life is what I call Renaissance time. I set aside spiritual contemplative meditative space to think and pray and get myself centered.” Perry Marshall, Author, 80/20 Sales and Marketing
  • “For me, it's always been body, mind and spirit. I try to do a little bit of everything on a daily basis.” Lubo Smid, CEO, STRV

40 Strategy Growth Workshop speakers:

Tommy Breedlove, Author, Legendary - "My life has changed in so many incredible ways just by meditating less for than 20 minutes a day. This simple act is the single best way for us to be proactive rather than reactive to the world’s challenges.

Mark Podolsky, Author, Dirt Rich - “I wake up every morning and I journal. After I journal, I do breath work. Then I meditate. And after I meditate, I work out. And after I work out, I read. Then after I read, I connect. These are my habits. I know if I do these things, I'm gonna have a good day, and that's gonna lead me off to a more productive day, and then go to work.”

Bob Bedritis, CEO, Oswego Private Wealth Management - “ I’ve implemented regular "Thinking Time" sessions to help improve clarity, avoid common mistakes, and reduce "dumb tax" costs. This habit creates a framework for strategic decision-making and aligns my team more effectively.”

According to Time Magazine, here’s a list of the 10 Most Popular Habits.

  1. Setting clear goals.
  2. Maintaining a morning routine.
  3. Lifelong learning.
  4. Time management.
  5. Networking and building relationships
  6. Staying physically active.
  7. Practicing gratitude.
  8. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity.
  9. Giving back.
  10. Staying Focused on their “Why”

Starting on Monday, I have started a personal challenge. It is a 40-day challenge to get yourself back on track with your daily habits, to help you be who you want to be.

Personally, I am doing 4 key habits:

  1. Getting back to waking up at 5 AM every weekday.
  2. Start walking again. Starting with 10 minutes. Then, I’m moving this up incrementally one-minute every day until I get to 50 minutes.
  3. No carbs until noon.
  4. Write one thank you note every day.

If you’re ready to join me for the challenge, send me back a reply. I look forward to hearing how you are going to start your habit and get yourself back on track.

40 Strategy Tax Tips:

Apply the 20% pass‑through business (QBI) deduction

This deduction under Section 199A, originally from the 2017 law, is now permanent, allowing eligible pass-through business owners to deduct 20% of qualified business income. It helps reduce taxable income significantly.
