The Journey Continues...

The Journey Continues...

1st June, the beginning of a new month, the 'start' if you will. Another day like any other some might say. Just one more in the journey of life.

Life has been significantly different for all of us over the last three months, the world spluttered and then stopped causing massive structural chaos providing an economic crash like nothing any of us have ever seen before. On a personal level each and every one of us has had to face different challenges, strains, stresses, sadness and happiness all mixed together in a virtual cocktail creating a drink of perspective none of our 'doomsday' planning would ever concoct.

My own experience, as regular readers know, involved taking on a new role, stepping up from Management to Leadership. I can be frank, its a hell of a step for me and a leap of faith for the Group. What the majority of regular readers don't know is that I have had COVID-19, my youngest son (15) has had COVID-19 and my wife has been hopsitalised for a total of 10 days with COVID-19. This started on 9th April, only now do we feel any sort of normal again. That's my cocktail, not of choice but what life served me. I'm not alone.

My experience with COVID-19 is this, don't take it lightly, don't take risks with it. None of us had a temperature or cough, we did though experience loss of smell, taste, kidney issues, brain issues, muscle pains and vision symptoms. If you get it it gets you.

Through it all the journey continued, time stops for no one, the sun rises and sets with predictable regularity undimmed by chaos. The world turns, and it does turn, the views from the Dragon were just mind blowing. The journey of life has taken a big step forward, we will see the first woman step on the moon in the next decade and the first human trip to Mars before the century ticks through. The journey continues.

Why?

Because at heart, at our base level that’s what we do, our curiosity drives us to explore, satisfy the need to know, scratch the itch. We cannot sit still. We fight with drive and endeavour that breeds progress, not success but progress, two very different things. Success is an outcome of progress not a destination.

So, for me the time has come to go, move, explore. We go, we move, we go faster than we have before, we move farther than we have before, we go. There will be mistakes and failures on the way but that's OK because that's what happens when we try, when we explore. If progress was easy it would be no fun.

The Journey Continues...
