The Joy of Fatherhood and Finding Work Life Harmony in the Channel

Fatherhood changes everything. The way we see the world, the way we approach our careers, and the way we balance work and family. It’s a journey filled with learning, love, and sometimes exhaustion, but at the end of the day, there’s no greater blessing than getting to be a dad.

On the latest episode of The Channel 2.0 Podcast, I sat down with three incredible new fathers in the channel, Kevin Zimmerman, Vincent DiCicco, and Justin Marano, to talk about how fatherhood has shaped their lives and how they navigate work and family while thriving in their careers.

The Blessings of Fatherhood

We all had different stories and experiences, but one theme remained the same, there’s nothing more rewarding than being a dad.

"Just the blessing of loving another being so much every single day. And that feeling, as much as I feel it every day, it always feels like the first time." – Justin Marano

"There’s just those moments, whether you’re putting your kid down for a nap or they cry in the middle of the night, and you walk in there and they let out this huge sigh of relief, like all the stress of life just washes away. In that moment, you know you’re their safe place." – Kevin Zimmerman

"Watching my wife become a mom has been one of the most incredible things. Moms have superpowers, man. It’s been a privilege to witness that transformation and see just how much love, patience, and strength goes into raising our son." – Vincent DiCicco

How the Channel Supports Our Families

The channel is more than just an industry, it’s a place that allows us to build careers while supporting the people who matter most. Whether we’re grinding through deals, traveling for work, or working from home, our efforts help provide for our families while still being present for the big moments.

But balancing a demanding career and family isn’t easy. We talked about what we’ve learned along the way:

Set Boundaries: "I try to put my phone away when I’m home so I can be fully present with my son. The work will always be there, but these moments won’t."

Find Time for Connection: "My wife and I make sure we don’t just talk about the logistics of the house and the baby, but actually take time to connect."

Appreciate the Small Moments: "Every milestone, every bedtime story, every hug, it all matters more than we realize in the moment."

Advice for Other Dads in the Channel

For those who are new fathers or thinking about becoming one, the biggest takeaway was this: You’ll never have it all figured out, and that’s okay.

"Give yourself grace. Nobody has this all figured out. The best thing you can do is be present and appreciate the ride." – Vincent DiCicco

"Never say no to help. You don’t have to do this alone—lean on your family, your friends, and your community." – Kevin Zimmerman

"If you can, get a night nurse. Trust me on this one." – Justin Marano
