Kroger "Share the Love" Donations Will Exceed $400,000
Kroger celebrated Valentine’s Day with its “Share the Love” tour, an example of its commitment to fight hunger. Kroger representatives in central Indiana delivered donations to support food banks and other crucial community agencies.
Gleaners Food Bank, a long-time Kroger partner, received the day’s largest contribution, a check for $100,000. Gleaners President and CEO John Elliott said the donation would pay for 400,000 meals. Elliott also said the impact of Kroger’s generosity will be multiplied because it “will inspire imitation” by other companies.
In Indianapolis, Kroger also presented the following Valentine’s Day donations:
Second Helpings – $31,834
Indy Parks / Indy Urban Acres “Veggie Box” Program -- $10,000
Fletcher Place Community Center -- $7,500
Grit into Grace / Dream House -- $5,000
Hope Center Indy -- $5,000
Indianapolis Fire Department -- $5,000
Kroger also presented donations in Anderson, Bloomington, Fort Wayne and South Bend. Stores in Illinois will “Share the Love” next week.
When the tour is complete, the Kroger Central Division contributions will expand the #ZeroHungerZeroWaste hunger relief mission by a total of $407,523.
Stefanie Jeffers, Founder and CEO of Grit into Grace, called this “the best Valentine’s Day ever.”
