Lamplighter Awards Represent the Best Across New England
The UMass Memorial Health Marketing and Communications team has been honored by the New England Society for Healthcare Communications ( NESHCo ) with an impressive seven Lamplighter Awards! NESHCo’s annual Lamplighter Awards recognize the best marketing and communications work across all New England health care organizations.
And the winners are …
Recognizing the need for a systemwide website that reflects the integrated health care system, the team led a multi-phase, data-driven project that resulted in the December 2024 launch of the new site and a remarkable improvement in website performance.
Faced with the widespread, post-pandemic challenge of recruiting, the team developed an extensive, multi-media campaign featuring current caregivers and their professional and personal interests to emphasize the whole-person employment culture. The “We Hire You” campaign was instrumental in exceeding recruitment goals.
NICU 50th Anniversary Logo Design – Silver
In support of the 50th anniversary of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UMass Memorial Health Children’s Medical Center, the team developed a logo that set the tone for the anniversary event and anchored related communications throughout the anniversary year.
Hope and Healing Video – Silver
The team developed a compelling video for the annual Hope and Healing fundraiser featuring baby Cole, who was prematurely born at 33 weeks and who spent 45 days in the Medical Center’s NICU. The video inspired the generosity of our donors by highlighting the integral role of our NICU and its caregivers in helping babies survive and thrive.
When presented with the opportunity to provide a 30-second video to be played on the WooSox jumbotron, the team put our Children’s Medical Center in the spotlight. The video features pediatric patients in the hospital setting, then imagines and transforms them into their productive adult selves, demonstrating the wonderful potential each young patient represents.
Chill and Chat Webinar Series – Silver
The team developed a series of free webinars for the community addressing common health concerns. The series promoted a unique level of participant engagement that felt more like a conversation with a physician than a presentation. The webinars far exceeded participation expectations.
Workday Communications – Award for Excellence
Nearly 18 months before the January 2024 go-live of a Human Resources software called Workday, UMass Memorial’s caregivers across its entities began learning about its upcoming implementation and long-term benefits. The team implemented a comprehensive communications plan designed to reach caregivers in all roles and at all locations.
The winners were announced at the NESHCo Lamplighter Awards Gala held in Springfield.
Congratulations to the UMass Memorial Marketing and Communications caregivers, as well as all who collaborated with them, on these extraordinary initiatives. These prestigious Lamplighter recognitions are well-deserved!
