“Leadership isn’t about perfection—it’s about purpose.”

This week on The Capitol Coffee Connection, I had the honor of sitting down with Maryland Governor Wes Moore for one of the most heartfelt conversations I’ve had on the show.

Wes is the first Black governor of Maryland—and a true trailblazer—but what struck me most was how grounded, authentic, and deeply human he is.

He spoke candidly about growing up without his father, being raised by a single mom, and the teacher who changed his life. We talked about his grandfather’s patriotism, his love of Jamaican food, his Elvis wedding (!), and his simple, powerful definition of joy: freedom.

Wes brings humor, humility, and heart to every answer. His warm, contagious energy stayed with me long after the conversation ended—and I believe it will stay with you, too.

I hope you’ll listen, watch, and subscribe. This episode is a reminder that leadership at its best is about connection, compassion, and staying true to who you are.
