Lessons With #AskAsh - Week 18: Daily Operational Targets

Do you know the work you should be executing on a daily basis?

I was teaching on Instagram LIVE recently on the importance of creating Daily Operational Targets.

It all starts with goal-setting. Early this year, I was committed to having meaningful goals. So I picked up the book, Measure What Matters by John Doerr, who talks about how the story of Objective and Key Results created by Andy Grove.

It's so simple that it kinda still messes with me:

Objective: What You Want To Do

Key Result: the metric, how you get there.

Here's what I love about OKRs. I started thinking. Where does this lead in terms of projects?

It hit me. You have your Objective. Next, you state your metrics. After that, you create your project (It's a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result). There it is. You create a project - a framework for planning and executing project activities that gets you to your product, service or result.

Therefore, it's necessary to have Daily Operational Targets to track what you are doing week to week and month to month, so you don't miss your goal.
