🧵 LinkedIn: From Networking to Flirting?

🧵 LinkedIn: From Networking to Flirting?

🪧 "Maaf karna, LinkedIn, maine tujhe Tinder 2.0 kaha." 🪧 "Nahi, main hoon bhi thoda sa."

I came across this hilarious billboard image recently — Indeed teasing LinkedIn by calling it “Tinder 2.0,” and LinkedIn low-key agreeing with a cheeky, “Main hoon bhi thoda sa.” 😅

Funny? Absolutely. But also... uncomfortably accurate. 👀

💼 What happened to professional networking?

LinkedIn was built as a space to connect professionally — for recruiters to find talent, for candidates to showcase skills, and for professionals to exchange ideas and insights.

But scroll through your feed today, and you'll likely find:

  • Dramatic personal stories with hashtags like #MondayMotivation

  • Unsolicited messages that read more like pickup lines than professional pitches

  • Selfies with captions that would fit better on Instagram

  • "Success" stories that sound more like clickbait than career wisdom

Let’s be honest — we’ve all seen LinkedIn slowly morph into a hybrid of Facebook, Instagram... and yes, a little bit of Tinder too. 😬

⚖️ Where do we draw the line?

Don’t get me wrong — human stories, personality, and authenticity do belong in the workplace. Vulnerability and inspiration are welcome.

But when the focus shifts from value to virality, from learning to likes, that’s where the core purpose gets diluted.

And as professionals, it puts us in a weird space:

  • Do we post about real work and risk low engagement?

  • Or do we post personal drama to get attention (and maybe a few "DMs")?

👩💻 What can we do as a LinkedIn community?

✅ Use this platform for what it's meant for — real conversations, professional growth, and learning. ✅ Share wins and failures that others can learn from. ✅ Keep the DMs respectful. Seriously. ✅ Add value before adding virality.

🔄 My take?

We don’t need to make LinkedIn boring again — but we do need to make it meaningful again.

This billboard might be funny, but it’s a reminder: 📣 Let’s bring the “LinkedIn” back to LinkedIn. Not Tinder. Not TikTok. Not Insta 2.0. Just good, old professional space — with a dash of personality.

Who’s with me? 🙌

💬 What’s the most unprofessional thing you’ve seen on LinkedIn lately? Let’s talk in the comments — professionally, of course 😉

True! LinkedIn was meant for networking, not matchmaking, let’s keep it career-focused.
