Is “Listen to My Audience” A Part Of Your Content Strategy?
Content is everywhere. Millions are creating, millions are posting. Brands, businesses, influencers, public figures- anyone who has something to sell or a message to share is using social media to reach their intended audience.
However, we are also drowning in content. In all of the rush to build an audience and secure business online, we seldom forget to listen to very people who make any of this possible- the audience.
We are speaking, creating, posting, but who's listening?
When was the last time you asked your audience- whether it's 10 people or 10,000- what content they'd like to see from you, what content would benefit them, what content brings them value?
Here's how you can learn about what content your audience really wants:
Cold, hard numbers
While depending on analytics isn't always the best strategy due to changing algorithms and reach, it is important to take stock of what kind of posts are working and which just aren't. Your audience speaks to you through the engagement stats on posts. Keep an eye on numbers.
Nobody's too cool to read comments
Comments and conversations on your posts are a gold mine of insight. Reading and engaging in conversations with your audience will not only give you an idea of what they think of what you're posting, but also of what content they need to see from you in the future.
What they say while sharing your content matters
This may be the most important feedback mechanism for what content is hitting the spot- What is your audience saying when they share your posts with THEIR audience? What are they adding to their stories? What are they saying when they repost your content? What reasons are they giving for sharing this?
The audience- creator relationship is a mutually beneficial one and just like any relationship, both need to listen to each other when they communicate for things to work out!
