Looking for benefits in using digital visualisation tools in AEC?

Creative Technology and Visualisation is a core aspect of our Digital Strategy at Zutari. The technological advances of the Industry 4.0 revolution have resulted in lowered barriers for hardware and software acquisition in this space and we foresee continued growth and uptake of digital tools such as Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality in various engineering applications.

The benefits of interactive visualisation technology when applied to the engineering and construction sector are well understood and offers us the ability to collaborate, communicate, simulate and review projects more efficiently. At Zutari, we are able to rehearse all aspects of designs, construction and asset operation in order to optimise our design outputs, all before any construction has begun! This step immediately de-risks complex projects.

We are realising the benefits of digital visualisation technology in the following ways:

1. The ability to communicate our design intent to project stakeholders and construction contractors. Everyone benefits as we provide a common basis for the understanding of project scope, construction sequences and final expected product in realistic renditions

2. We can review designs in-house, with remote project team members without the need for face-to-face meetings

3. Improved engineering reviews by inspecting and walking through designs at ‘real scale’ in an immersive environment. This method provides a far more realistic and deeper understanding of designs rather than pouring over 2D drawings or videos on a screen

4. We are able to refine our designs using realistic materials, lighting and aesthetics. This allows our stakeholders to make key design decisions based on real world information

5. Our interactive scenes provide realistic, real world-based simulation abilities which demonstrates moving parts using physics as opposed to pure animation. This method provides the added benefit of ensuring that we can cross-check design-based information against simulations

6. Our training products demonstrated value by immersing trainees in real world scenarios using design-based information. Immersive, Virtual Reality augmented by sound clips place trainees at the coal face BUT in a safe environment. We can ensure that trainees are not exposed to hazardous areas or damage expensive equipment. We are able to simulate the use of high capital cost equipment while reducing travel costs and improving health and safety.

At Zutari, we are very aware of the fact that digital is impacting our engineering business. We strongly believe that our digital skills and tool sets enhance our projects and provide oodles of value for our Clients. Our strong belief is that, by combining our engineering knowledge and digital expertise we will serve the needs of our Clients better. Our company has people with many skills to meet the digital challenges and we have a relentless focus on this. We certainly believe that the industry in which we operate is open for digital disruption and we have a strategic digital focus to mitigate the possible impact and take advantage of the opportunities presented to us and our Clients.

We have a super talented, dedicated team of 3D Digital Specialists and Developers who you can call at will. We provide our clients with jaw dropping visuals and a bleeding edge approach to design review and feedback.

Great post Selvan ; if I missed it - one to add is the future asset management potential. Having a 3D BIM model goes a long way in assisting a client managing their asset and having a comprehensive inventory of what they own.
