Many hands make hope work
If you’ve ever been in a crisis, you know that it’s hard to get out on your own.
Hope is a powerful force, but it takes many hands to help make hope happen in Convoy’s responses around the world.
Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes to see how our partners, integrated programming, and people like you make it possible for the work of hope to continue.
Let’s get started. 👇
Tackling the global problem of hunger
To deliver tangible hope across the U.S. and around the world, Convoy’s distribution fleet requires an exceptional team of truck drivers. 🚚 Without them, hope wouldn't make it into the hands of families and communities who desperately need it.
In the same way, the fight against global hunger is key to removing barriers that keep families from thriving. Lack of nutritious food causes more than hunger: It keeps parents from providing for their children and keeps children from pursuing their education and their dreams.
Hunger affects all areas of life — that’s why Convoy’s programs dedicated to feeding kids in schools, empowering women, and training farmers are crucial to creating sustainable solutions.
Last week on World Hunger Day, we celebrated stories of real people whose lives have been changed just by having consistent meals. From bringing relief during the “starving months” in West Africa to providing the comfort of regular meals to a displaced Ethiopian family, Convoy is humbled to be a part of rewriting stories for those who had no way out of food insecurity.
Their bellies are full, and so are our hearts knowing they have hope for the future.
How partners help us keep responding
In this season of World Hunger Day, we’re also reflecting on the partnerships that have allowed more people to receive the resources they need.
Last month, tornadoes tore through metropolitan St. Louis, other parts of Missouri, and Kentucky, wreaking havoc on infrastructure, homes, vehicles, and entire neighborhoods.
Local partners gathered alongside Convoy team members to deliver supplies to impacted areas and begin cleanup operations. More than 170 volunteers have collectively devoted over 1,000 hours to serve their neighbors.
Friends like SpartanNash are ensuring we have resources for disaster response. In a recent campaign, any roundup at the register of 50 cents, $1, $5, or $10 was used to support Convoy of Hope programs.
Partnerships are no small change to the work we do!
Integration is the solution
As our Disaster Services team is on the ground responding to severe weather, Convoy is also dedicated to growing integrated programming in 40 countries. With more than 4,200 program centers from West Africa to Moldova, the goal is to create sustainable solutions through education, resources, and ultimately, community development that will stand the test of time for generations to come.
One exciting example of integrated programming at work comes from the Philippines — when mothers expressed interest in helping feed their children, Convoy brought together agriculture practices and the local feeding program to transform the entire community. ❤️
Through the Women’s Empowerment program, these women received training in best agriculture practices as well as help and support from Convoy team members. Now they’re growing their own produce for the feeding program and even selling the excess in the market.
From the comments
Shoutout to Daniel Valdés for this impactful comment on our post about how we're feeding children in Ukraine in the midst of war. We're not just feeding kids in our programs — we're also nourishing hope, and you're a part of that!
Want to help more folks receive consistent meals not just for today, but for generations to come? You’re in the right place. Comment “MEALS” and we’ll send you a link to our Children’s Feeding program where you can help kids have a brighter future.
The work done by Convoy of Hope truly exemplifies the power of community support in times of need. It's inspiring to see how partnerships can create lasting change and help people find hope again.
