#MediaRevenue - #NewsAgentAI Questionnaire
Imagine if every single one of your subscribers had their own personal Agent, provided to them by you, to help them manage their subscription, content and advertising experience. What would you like them to be able to do with that Agent and a 24/7 Agent-to-Agent process to boost subscription and ad revenue, as well as eliminating involuntary churn and bypassing ad blocking?
Imagine if every authoritative news publisher used the same underlying protocol to manage how those NewsAgents for subscribers work on their own websites and Apps, and across the news ecosystem. What kind of network effect could that create for publishers and news consumers, while maintaining competition and publisher control of pricing? What kind of access might you grant to an authorized Agent that contained hashed indicators that it represented a human owner with subscriptions across the news ecosystem, and some advertising intent or other valuable signals?
What opportunities could NewsAgents issued to some low propensity subscribers that are prepared to add attention time, advertising intent and usage-based-payments indicators to their Agents do to create new monetization of larger audiences via Agent-to-Agent processes that maintain the value of traditional subscription and advertising models?
How could this protocol for authorized NewsAgents also help govern how Agents from other sources are handled when they arrive on your website or interact with your paywall or ad server? Which Agentic bots would you block, and how would you think about giving some access and monetizing Agents that come from partner tech companies that want to access/retrieve and pay for your content without scraping all of it?
How can a protocol for NewsAgents help the news industry adjust to the fact that bot and Agentic traffic is outgrowing human traffic, and that many humans may use Agents or Assistants of some kind to help them access news content? What can a protocol like this do to help monetize human subscriber traffic, human non-subscriber traffic, "Human-Agentic" traffic and non human bot and Agentic traffic?
How can processes used for managing bot access expand to include a protocol for blocking unauthorized Agents while providing access for authorized Agents that then are provided an appropriate "user journey" by intelligent paywall and ad server technology?
I would like your help in answering those questions as we build out the #NewsAgentAI protocol with our technology partners.
I am emailing and messaging a number of publishers and contacts across media to get as much expert input as I can, so let me know via email or DM if you would like to help answer those questions.
