Meet the Team: Our HR Manager, Zoey Ramirez

How long have you worked at Commodity?

I've been with Commodity for 2 years now.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role?

I manage a little bit of everything in my role—from employee relations, compliance, career development, and benefits to the more out-of-the-ordinary: warehouse DJ on Black Friday, event planner, and unofficial team therapist. I'm passionate about building a work environment where we can get down to business while also making sure everyone feels appreciated for all they do. No two days are the same in my world, but I love being in a role where I get to support both the business and the people who make it all happen.

What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your job?

One of the most rewarding aspects is knowing that I’m helping create a workplace where people feel seen, supported, and valued. Whether it’s guiding someone through a tough situation, celebrating wins both big and small, or launching a new initiative that brings people together, I love being part of the moments that make work more meaningful. I take pride in being a go-to person for providing structure and support, while also keeping things fun and human along the way.

What’s something your colleagues don’t know about you?

I’m really into fitness. I like to mix things up by trying new workout classes like hot yoga and pilates, but my true passions are weight lifting and running. Fun fact: I have a back squat personal record of 305 lbs.

Outside the gym, I love to read. I'm part of a local book club and am always carrying my emotional-support Kindle. I average about four books a month, usually diving into romance, thrillers, and mystery novels, with a few personal development books sprinkled in. My current read is "Unlikely Story" by Ali Rosen.

When I’m not working out or reading, I’m usually spending time with my mini schnauzer, Maya, who definitely runs the show at home.

How does Commodity support employee growth and development?

This question seems a little biased, as I’m one of the key players in supporting employee growth and development, but it’s truly something we prioritize at Commodity. We take the time to understand what each team member is passionate about and find ways to align those interests with their work. Whether it’s through hands-on experience, new projects, or learning opportunities, we are committed to helping our team grow every step of the way.

What’s your favorite Commodity fragrance?

In full transparency, Milk Expressive and I didn’t exactly get off to a great start. The scent used to make my stomach turn. Fast forward to today, and it’s actually my favorite Commodity fragrance. I find myself reaching for it more and more, and now I can’t imagine my lineup without it.
