Merry Middle Class Xmas: Cynicism May affect your social score

The two weeks of compassion prior to Christmas on the part of the Middle Classes has all but evaporated this year. The competitive circle of self interest normally makes way for Yuletide caring and sharing at Christmas parties, industry events and school plays, because back slapping rather than back stabbing, fits better in the consumer driven giving season. But charity begins at home and the trouble is, they can no longer afford to give in the nasty linear world of take, make break and waste. Santa the eternal optimist would rather see a circular economy me thinks.

Outside of those who give all year, the middle class are the fabric that holds us back from the abyss, but, in reality, the modern version of Christmas has become nothing more than conscience washing if you can afford it. Ho-ho-ho we can all be philanthropists when it suits. Our modern merry messaging hierarchy is so pervasive, superficial brand makeovers or badge wearing virtue signalling will bathe us in the glow of instant morality thanks to LinkedIn or Facebook profile changes. Drones dressed up as do-gooders, disguised as change-makers.

This years real Epiphany however, has come with the cost of living crisis and the defiant stance of our Rail Mail and Postal workers, fighting fire and rehire rather than just pay, while our health workers have been treated as cannon fodder now the battle has been won. Remember Grant Shapps being proud of our flexible work force during P & O, he knew the media would help us forget ahead of a winter of discontent. So they roll the dice again and, while the political drones and media distribute a coordinated narrative nothing can change. Edward Bernays, the architect of all this, must be enjoying trebles all round with Uncle Sigmund (Freud).

Perhaps we have been brainwashed, but we optimists, always of good cheer, believe Britain is fundamentally a caring society albeit operating within feudalism that seeks to conserve a status quo long passed it's sell by date. We are weed on and told it is raining, so still we buy into a system of rot from the top that trickles down, unlike the wealth. We must push up, for feeling safe and secure, though understandable, is at odds with necessity being the mother of invention. The politicians of both parties naturally hide these realities beneath the now cracking slick and shiny veneer that is our fake consumer society. Government's mates are still being looked after and protected despite The VIP Lane court ruling, the paid for celebrity brand makeover of a Minister for mass murder, banker bonuses, green washing, the energy subsidy farce. Scroll on prols, their is nothing to see here.

Aided and abetted by brainwashing mainstream and social media a circle of self interest continues to put profit first while preaching pitching in to us plebs on the planet of finite resources. We are all supposed to be in it together but in the words of the Old-skool Classic Kicks Like A Mule - The Bouncer "Your Names Not Down Your Not Comin In. Not Tonight You're Not On The List". All supplied in a 'fifteen second social media stylee ditty' because our attention span has been dumbed down along with any ability for critical thinking.

Economically classed as one of them I have to apologise for being part of the most self entitled but least enlightened class, the middle class. Virtue signalling and Grinch aside, because an increasingly large number love Mick, for I am really working class if we strip out the divide and rule and double-barreled spanky spanky surname. Together and urgently we need to start questioning whether black is white and that more than a little bad is good. Maybe start realising we have been no more than enablers, 'middle class minders' for the 1% and that we aren't rich enough to buy a ticket on the lifeboats. Be quick because attention spans are shrinking.

The classic Edward Bernays plays have again been employed, it's money for old rope like repeat riddled pay TV. Ever since the pandemic Eddies 'Three words, three symbols' have kept us on tender hooks. Treat 'em mean and keep 'em keen, but also fearful and needy through 'Problem, Reaction Solution'. Take the Energy crisis play, constantly on but the solution is not meant to be the cure. After all this comes first, before those who have survived the tsunami, are then forced to upgrade their homes. The construction industry donors will love the retrofit bonanza. No one asks why we have not changed the new build spec, or for that matter not built council houses instead of paying £30bn a year in housing benefit. With little regard for nature and biodiversity they will green wash us out, but, we will own nothing and be happy.

'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.' George Orwell 1984,

There can be no Social mobility when polarised inequality is set in stone over the next year or two by digital feudalism. The reset will feed us what it wants and when it wants with Central Bank digital currency and social credit scoring keep us all in line. In reality financialisation and rampant speculation has always been our problem not our salvation thanks to the diversion of our attention since way before 2008. So when an ex-Goldman stooge becomes prime minister and, the architect of the further liberalisation of the City and implementing CBDC, rather than Big Bang 2, this could be the apocalypse for me and you.

Think on over Christmas and new year, because we won't be alright Jack unless we wake up fast. Keeping quiet will see the Chinese model come in, social credit scores and an end to free speech (they have already passed laws against protest and jounalists no longer enjoy free speech. Soon white collar workers will not be needed thanks to AI and chat-bot GPT3. Central Bank Digital Currency is real, it's implementation just a sovereign debt or next derivatives driven Financial Crisis away. As ever the banks will not pay the price you and your families will.

By all means eat drink and be merry but think of others and forge alliances within your local community. There is no intended fat shaming here, but for your own good we may have to reserve the right to deduct those sugary items from your latest online shopping purchase some time soon.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
—Martin Niemöller

So don't just take a selfie this Christmas, take a deep look in the mirror, don't self censor yourself into silence. Choose community, caring and sharing not a continuation of the century of the self. They may be casting the contents of Pandora's box far and wide but we still have..............
