A birthday reminder for a childhood friend who left us too soon at 52. Fit, friendly, full of life… and yet, a man who believed smoking half a cigarette was “cutting down.”
It felt like a compromise back then. But looking back it was denial dressed as moderation.
This memory resurfaced as I re-read something I’d posted years ago. It’s still painfully relevant.

That’s the problem with many of us. We know what’s good for us… but we delay, negotiate, or dilute. We dabble in wellness like it’s a side hustle.
I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for over six years now. No one forced me into it. it just became a part of life. Now, it’s as normal as brushing my teeth.
No guilt. No complicated schedules. Just a rhythm that works.
And that’s the real lesson: good habits stick only when they become part of your routine—not a weekend project.
