🇨🇦🌲 More U.S. Tariffs on Canadian Lumber
Big news for Canada’s forest industry—especially in B.C. The U.S. just raised the duties (extra taxes) on Canadian softwood lumber from 14.54% to 20.56%. That means it now costs even more for Canadian companies to sell wood into the U.S.
Why does this matter?
Because it makes Canadian lumber less competitive. Companies may lose business, more jobs are at risk, and housing prices are sure to increase on both sides of the border.
This dispute has been going on for years, and it’s getting worse. Some Canadian producers are now moving operations to the U.S. to avoid the new costs.
B.C.’s Premier says Canada may consider limits (quotas) on how much lumber gets sent to the U.S.—something America has been asking for.
👉 Bottom line: This isn’t just about trees. It’s about trade, jobs, and what things cost. We need smart solutions and strong leadership to get things back on track.

1moThis is a powerful reminder that trade policy has deep and lasting consequences—not just for businesses, but for everyday workers, families, and the cost of living across North America. Instead of another round of tit-for-tat measures, maybe it’s time for a forward-looking, bi-national strategy that supports fair trade, sustainable forestry, and cross-border collaboration. The longer this dispute drags on, the more everyone on both sides of the border stands to lose.

1moIt is pretty sad state right now in the international supply chain industry and for jobs in Canada and around the world. The Dictator N Chief Donnie Trump is committed to making the world bow and kiss his ring for forgiveness. What a joke. Good paying Canadian jobs are leaving because this disgrace of a US President is forcing all companies who want to sell products in the USA to set up shop in the USA. Well, I say set up shop for the American market but only produce for that market and tariff the hell out of American products entering the rest of the world. Bankrupt the country and let China take them over. At least they are easier to deal with.
