☀️ MUCH LIKE THE WEATHER, YOUR T'S GETTING HOT ☕
Hi folks. Welcome to What's the T?! This week we're spotlighting some of our favourite creative and tech bits from across the world.
With campaign season warming up and the year’s second half creeping into frame, marketers everywhere are feeling the pressure to make something shine. Whether you’re lining up creative sprints or slathering SPF 30, things are heating up.
Today we’re meeting AI-generated best friends, building campaign worlds from scratch, and eavesdropping on dolphins. Let’s get stuck in.
The work we wish we made
To launch Black Mirror Season 7, Netflix didn’t just drop a trailer – they dropped us into the world. Ads for “Nubbin”, a fake neuro-tech startup, swept the internet: OOH placements, slick corporate-style posts, a LinkedIn page, TikTok testimonials, a mysterious hotline... even a full product demo. It’s a reminder that the best brand work doesn’t behave like advertising– it moves like culture, taps into what’s in the air, and shows up where you least expect it.
Social media, but make it meaningful
New platform Series is throwing out the feed and introducing “AI friends” – conversational agents that connect you with people across social networks based on values, not vanity metrics. No doomscrolling, no follower counts, no engagement bait. It’s the Gen Z antidote to performance fatigue – and an experiment in intimacy over influence. Hopeful, smart, and quietly radical.
Like a 3D printer for your imagination
If you haven’t played with Meshy AI yet, stop what you’re doing (after reading this, obviously) and start now. With stylisation options from hand-drawn to hyper-realistic, it’s brilliant for concepting, pitching, or giving your deck a little extra dazzle. Want to wow a client? Skip the stock photo and SHOW them that corgi in tactical gear eating a croissant the size of a car.
The ocean just got a language model
This National Dolphin Day (yes, that’s a thing), Google dropped something… unexpected. DolphinGemma is an experimental AI trained on decades of dolphin vocalisations to decode patterns in marine communication. It’s early-stage, but the idea of real-time translation between humans and other species? Dr. Doolittle, eat your heart out.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The tools are getting weirder – AI friends, fake startups, dolphin translators – but the impulse behind them is timeless: we want to connect. With each other. With ideas. With the world, even when it feels strange or unfamiliar. Whether it’s decoding DMs or decoding echolocation, the best work finds a way to say something real and bring us closer together.
If that slightly cheesy note made you sentimental, we’re always here. To understand how we can help take your creative, strategy and technology projects to the next level, write to us at hello@toaster.co.
