Navigating the circular economy legal landscape

Navigating the circular economy legal landscape

We hear again and again about the increasing speed of change whether it be in technology, public interest or the regulatory environment. For most businesses being able to manage the change could end up being a full-time job. It is easier for global companies with public affairs and legal departments scattered all around the world but for most businesses, it is just not viable. The result is that businesses become reactive to regulatory change rather than proactively navigating the environment to ensure they are prepared.

Oakdene Hollins and Ashurst are often approached by business leaders, sustainability/environmental managers and technicians to help shed some light on new regulations and legislation. Whether the concern is focused on product, business or logistical adaption it is often needed immediately and this reactionary approach can lead to rushed decisions.

Examples of this can be seen daily with businesses switching from plastic to cardboard or biodegradable plastic alternatives without really understanding the complete environmental or economic consequences.

The Government is in consultation on several key topics which will have a wide-reaching impact and although it is unclear what the exact outcome is going to be, there are some possible scenarios that businesses should be aware of. This is why Oakdene Hollins and Ashurst have developed a practical workshop in order to help businesses be in a better position to understand how to navigate the legal landscape, and what to do once you have identified a risk or opportunity.

The 90 minute session will be held at Ashurst LLP's offices, The London Fruit and Wool Exchange on the 10th of June between 16:00 and 18:00. It will provide some guidance, case studies and tools to take away so you are better equipped to deal with the next 12-18 months ahead.
