They Are Never Just Leftovers: They are next week’s meals waiting to happen.
I hope you’re heading into the Fourth of July feeling connected, joyful, and ready for a moment of rest — whether that means fireworks with family, a neighborhood BBQ, or simply putting your feet up.
For many of us, holidays like the Fourth come with high expectations (remember when everyone posted that perfect flag cake?). But here’s a gentle reminder: connection beats perfection, every single time.
So, what about after the party? That half-eaten veggie tray, the mountain of grilled corn, the leftover BBQ — they’re not a burden. They’re solid gold. Bonus meals. A chance to save time, waste less, and get a little creative.
If you’re swimming in leftovers this holiday weekend, lean in and have fun seeing how it all comes together. Here are a few of my favorite ways to turn “just leftovers” into something new:
BBQ Remix Salad — Chop up leftover BBQ (meats, veggies, whatever you’ve got) and toss with greens. Add any extras you like, then drizzle with your favorite dressing.
Second Chance Snack Board — Let each family member pick a few leftovers to build their own no-cook snack plate (a quick warm-up is fine too).
Grilled Veggie Pasta — Chop leftover grilled veggies and toss with cooked pasta, olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs.
Breakfast Frittata — Sauté leftover veggies, add any leftover meat or bits from your fridge, then follow a simple frittata recipe to finish it off.
However, you use them — tossed it in a salad, stuffed it in a wrap, or eaten it straight from the fridge — you’re not only making your life easier but keeping the holiday vibe going a little longer.
They’re not just leftovers. They’re the 4th of July encore!
