New $100 Power Saving Bonus opening soon

Concession card households in Victoria will be able to apply for their $100 Power Saving Bonus from later this month, with the Victorian Government driving down power bills and providing real cost of living help to Victorians most in need.

The new round of the Power Saving Bonus will open on Monday 25 August, providing a $100 payment to eligible concession card holders.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria are helping to deliver this fifth round of the program to households experiencing vulnerability across the state.

Up to 250 participating Neighbourhood Houses across Melbourne and regional Victoria will deliver in-person support to help eligible Victorians access their $100 Power Saving Bonus.

Since the first round of the Power Saving Bonus was launched in 2018, more than 4.5 million applications have been paid across four rounds of the program, totalling over $1 billion in energy bill relief to Victorian households.

From 25 August 2025, eligible concession card holders in Victoria can apply for their $100 Power Saving Bonus by visiting the Victorian Energy Compare (VEC) website and checking they’re on the best energy offer.

They can also get support to apply by calling the VEC helpline on 1800 000 832 or by visiting a participating Neighbourhood House in their area.

To be eligible for the new $100 Power Saving Bonus, Victorian households need to have a recent residential electricity bill and hold one of the following concession cards:

  • Health Care
  • Pensioner Concession
  • Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession; or
  • Veterans’ Affairs Gold

All Victorians can save money by using Victorian Energy Compare to check they’re on the best energy offer.

On average, people who used the Victorian Energy Compare website across 2024 were able to save $240 by switching to a better offer.

Households needing additional assistance with their energy bills can also access the Energy Assistance Program – a free over the phone or in-person support service delivered in partnership with Anglicare Victoria for Victorians who are having trouble paying their energy bills.

To speak to an energy advocate, call 1800 161 215 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (except public holidays).

Visit compare.energy.vic.gov.au to check you’re on the best energy offer.

It is imperative that these can be optionally paid electronically rather than via physical cheque. I have a $300 Westpac bank cheque that can't be cashed or deposited into any of the bank accounts I have.
