New Book: Rebelling to regain balance

I’m pleased to announce the release of Obesity, Instructions for Rebellion: The Mediterranean Way to Balance, Longevity, and Freedom of Choice, co-authored with Prof. Michele Carruba and featuring a preface by MEP and former Milan Mayor Letizia Moratti.

We live in a time marked by the absence of balance: in our lifestyles, in public debate, and in economic choices. This imbalance translates into obesity, eating disorders, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) – the true silent pandemic of our time.

With this book, we aim to debunk false myths, show why standardized policies have failed (sugar taxes, simplified labels, health claims, forced reformulations), and propose a different path: rediscovering the Mediterranean way as a compass for longevity, health, and freedom of choice.

🔑 Key insights:

  • Obesity is multifactorial: body and brain gain weight together.

  • Children play less: we live in obesogenic and increasingly sedentary cities.

  • Public policies and food fads have failed, while social media fuel gurus and obsessions.

  • The Mediterranean Diet is in crisis, along with our cultural heritage.

  • The solution is not “a diet,” but prevention, education, and balance.

This is not a diet manual, but a manifesto to rebel against imposed models and regain the balance that unites body, mind, and relationships.
