Omnicane Financial Highlights 2024: Innovating for a resilient future

Omnicane Limited reported a net profit of MUR 590 million for the year ended 31 December 2024, up from MUR 577 million in 2023 – highlighting its sustained performance in a dynamic market. Following the release of our Annual Report in June, here is a condensed summary of the key highlights.

The Agro‑Industry cluster was a top performer, generating profit of MUR 294 million, driven by strong sugar refining activity and alcohol production at the distillery. The Energy segment also had a productive year, posting a net result of MUR 101 million. A contract was signed for a 4MW solar power plant, scheduled to be connected to the grid in Q1 2026. Additionally, Omnihydro’s hydroelectric plant received certification enabling carbon credit earnings for 12,000 to 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ savings annually.

The Properties, Retail & Brands cluster saw major developments. Holiday Inn is now managed by Valor Hospitality, which oversees more than 115 hotels globally. Land sales are progressing steadily, and the launch of our new rum brand is set for September 2025. The recent acquisition of Tropical Cubes is also expected to enhance revenue from this cluster, while negotiations for the export of our antioxidant line are still underway.

The Corporate & Financial Services cluster marked a milestone with the signing of an agreement with Mastercard. This cluster contributed over MUR 102 million in EBITDA and remains focused on expanding its portfolio of products and services.

“2024 was a year of strategic consolidation and forward momentum, with a view towards innovation for a resilient 2025,” said Jacques d’Unienville, emphasising how the Group’s diversified model serves as a blueprint for sustainable value creation.
