The One Simple Reason You Need To Take Instagram Seriously
As a LinkedIn user, there’s a fair chance you’re not such a huge fan of Instagram... maybe even Facebook.
But you know who is?
YOUR CUSTOMERS / CLIENTS / PROSPECTS
Now, if you’re in a corporate environment, there’s a fair chance you may believe places like Instagram and Facebook just aren’t that important for YOUR business.
You may think it’s the “wrong demographic” or the wrong type of place to be showcasing or selling your product or service.
But you’d be… wrong.
And not just a little wrong - you’d be really, really wrong.
And here’s how you can prove it really quickly:
Take a look at the home screen of your phone and (if possible) your clients.
What do they all have in common?
SOCIAL MEDIA APPS.
Pretty much everyone you know is glued to them 24/7.
And they’re only gaining in popularity and significance.
The ATTENTION of most of your audience is fairly evenly distributed over Facebook and Instagram and Instagram is getting BIG… fast - right now there's already over 1 billion monthly active users.
Now, it’s been about 3 months since I decided to start sharing help and advice on Instagram.
And in that relatively short time, I reached a small (but significant) landmark of 5,000 ENGAGED followers.
People who know me, trust me… and, I’m led to believe, like me...
Go figure!
I’ve established my “brand” by getting to know the personality of the platform and delivering content that people RESPOND to on it.
And - as a result - I can leverage my brand whenever I choose.
The funny part is, I did this purely organically.
For pennies on the dollar, I could double or triple this with a few simple ads.
And while a significant chunk of my audience is under 34, exactly one third is aged 35 to 64 - the guys you may well think “aren’t on Instagram”.
I can help them on Instagram and pitch to them on Facebook (or vice versa) all day long and it’s not only CHEAP…. it’s very profitable.
I do the same thing for other businesses that I work with in very varied markets such as Sports E-Commerce and the Wellness Industry.
I also advise and help other companies and brands in Retail, agriculture, Marketing and Engineering do exactly the same thing - by creating simple, helpful and CONTEXTUAL content made specifically for THEIR target market.
And you know the funny thing?
Regardless of the industry or market, we can ALWAYS find an audience to connect with and sell to.
For one simple reason:
Everyone uses social media.
And while it's generally true that us "oldies" may prefer Facebook.
More mature people use Instagram than you can maybe imagine.
And it's this older demographic who are often the most responsive.
Why Every Company On The Planet Should Be Creating Content and Ads for Facebook and Instagram
For now, Facebook and Instagram are largely under-priced.
With very simple and basic targeting, you can reach your ideal client immediately.
Create content that they like, appreciate and engage with and using (again) very simple tracking, pitch them your product or service.
It really isn't rocket science but it does work.
There is money to be made - lots of it - for those who are willing to spend a little time and effort.
Plus there are ENDLESS opportunities to increase your brand awareness.

6yThanks for the reminder - I don't use Instagram because I'll be totally honest, I thought it was more of a platform for lifestyle related businesses (fashion, health etc) and I never really considered it to be a serious platform for consultants in the marketing space! Looks like this is one place I HAVE to get serious about this quarter!

6yYou know, I aspire to post regularly in IG as I know a lot of people find me there... but then.. you have to take PICTURES to have something to post. That’s where I stall. I can talk and write and do videos AAALLL DAY LONG - but take a damn photo??? (I know. Excuses. I’ll come find you over there too. 😂)
