Open Your Eyes to AI: Free Transformation Session
Have you ever felt like your business is just scratching the surface with AI? Perhaps you're using ChatGPT for a quick email draft here or a report there. But deep down, you know there's so much more to it. The real good stuff that could genuinely transform your operations.
The truth is, if you don't embrace AI at the core of your business, you risk being left behind, overtaken by those who are.
This isn't just about incremental improvements; it's about a fundamental shift. Many leadership teams I've presented to have been genuinely shocked by how little they knew about AI's true capabilities and what it could do for them. Mouths were open. Eyebrows were raised. Minds were blown.
That's why I'm incredibly excited to introduce "Open Your Eyes to AI" – a new, free virtual or in-person session specifically designed for leadership teams like yours.
This isn't a theoretical lecture. I'll cut through the noise and show you the tangible opportunities and potential threats that the inevitable growth of AI and automation presents to your business.
Drawing directly from the insights in my AI Paradox white paper, I'll give you the clarity you need to understand the true landscape of AI integration, and how approaching it strategically with something like my High Performance Framework, will give you a much better chance of being successful.

The AI Efficiency Trap: When Productivity Tools Create Perpetual Pressure
The allure of AI is strong: automate repetitive tasks, free up time, and boost output. But a recent article from Knowledge at Wharton highlights a growing concern: the "AI efficiency trap." This is where the very tools meant to liberate us end up creating more pressure, leading to burnout and a feeling of being perpetually "on."
The research suggests a worrying trend: 75% of surveyed workers in 2024 feared that AI would increase their burnout. This isn't just about working more hours; it’s about a subtle shift where initial efficiency gains are quickly followed by heightened expectations, leading to digital overload and a blurring of work-life boundaries. Many find themselves in a cycle of "technological addiction," feeling unable to perform without their AI co-pilots.
This isn't to say AI is bad, far from it. It's about getting it right. The AI Paradox exists because organisations often overlook the critical need for strategic planning, workforce upskilling, and a focus on human-AI collaboration.
If we're not careful, AI can lead to "efficiency substitution" – simply replacing one form of busywork with another – rather than true value creation. Our goal at Operosus is to help you navigate this, turning the paradox into genuine progress.
Latest Research: Navigating AI's Impact on the Workforce
AI in Sales: More Time Selling, Higher Win Rates?
AI promises a revolution in sales, potentially freeing up significant selling time and boosting conversion rates. A report from Bain & Company suggests that AI could double actual selling time and increase win rates by over 30%. Imagine the impact!
However, the reality for many companies is that these gains remain elusive. Why? Because simply layering AI onto fragmented tasks or inefficient processes won't yield results. The report highlights that only a few companies truly achieve double-digit success with AI in sales. The key lies in a complete redesign of workflows, focusing on an end-to-end view and ensuring clear objectives. Without this strategic groundwork, AI can become just another tool that adds complexity rather than value.
Small Businesses: Beyond Survival Mode with Proper Productivity
It’s easy to assume that if you're working harder, you're being more productive. But new research covered by HR Magazine paints a different picture for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). While a significant 72% of SME leaders believe technology, including AI, has increased productivity, a worrying one in three small businesses are still stuck in "survival mode."
This highlights a critical disconnect: being busy doesn't always equal being productive. For employees, true productivity is deeply tied to job satisfaction, meaningful work, autonomy, engagement, and trust.
If teams are burnt out delivering tasks that don't shift the needle, that's a leadership problem, not an AI problem. It’s about measuring what truly matters and fostering an environment where emotional energy and psychological safety are prioritised alongside technological solutions.
AI provides SMEs an amazing opportunity to punch above their weight, but it means they have to lean in to the fact they can be more dynamic than their bigger competitors. Getting it right could have a huge impact.
The Hidden Costs of AI: Burnout and Lost Potential
The desire to escape repetitive tasks is strong; a survey of 2,000 knowledge workers revealed that 62% want to use AI to get away from these mundane activities, with 44% actively "hating" them. And it's clear AI is here to stay, with 76% believing it will be essential to corporate jobs within 3.5 years, according to the New York Post.
However, the same studies point to "AI technostress" as a growing concern. Despite productivity increases, many employees report increased demands, cognitive overload, and blurred boundaries between work and personal life. Alarmingly, 77% of employees using AI feel it adds to their workload, and nearly half (47%) don't know how to achieve the expected productivity gains.
This is further compounded by the fact that only 38% of companies have a clear AI policy in place. These figures underscore the need for thoughtful implementation and clear guidelines to ensure AI truly enhances, rather than burdens, our working lives.
Practical: Reclaim Your Focus in a Distracted World
In an age of constant digital pings and AI-driven automation, true focus can feel like a superpower. Yet, it's essential for "proper productivity." Did you know that deliberately slowing down your morning routine can boost your daily productivity by as much as 34%? It helps regulate cortisol levels, leading to sustained focus throughout the day.
This week, try to implement one simple change to regain control over your attention:
Turn off non-essential notifications: Combat "decision fatigue" by silencing app alerts and only allowing crucial communications to break your concentration.
Schedule "focus zones": Dedicate specific times in your day, perhaps 90-minute blocks, where you put your devices on "Do Not Disturb." Set clear messages on platforms like Teams or Slack to let colleagues know you're in a "deep work" period.
Utilise "Work Offline" features: When tackling emails or documents, use your software's "Work Offline" mode to process tasks without the constant pull of incoming messages.
Choose just one of these tips to implement this week. You might be surprised at how much more you accomplish when you are in control of your devices, rather than them controlling you.
That's all for this edition of Proper Productivity. If you found this insightful, please share it with your network!
Until next time,
