OpenPLC + ARMxy Application Case – Tire Vulcanizing Machine Control System

OpenPLC + ARMxy Application Case – Tire Vulcanizing Machine Control System

Scenario

In tire manufacturing, the vulcanization process is critical to ensuring product strength, durability, and performance. This case focuses on automating the vulcanizing stage in a tire factory to enhance process stability, product quality, and operational safety.

Configuration

  • ARMxy Main Controller – the core control unit for managing logic, communication, and process execution.

  • X-DI Board – for detecting mold locking and safety signals.

  • Y-AI Board – for real-time acquisition of temperature and pressure data.

Implementation

  • Digital Input (DI) Board Verification: – Detects the mold lock-in-place signal (24V DC) to ensure that the mold is fully closed before starting the cycle. – Monitors the safety light curtain status (PNP input) to protect operators from accidental entry into hazardous zones.

  • Analog Input (AI) Board Monitoring: – Measures hot plate temperature via PT100 sensor input to maintain precise curing conditions. – Reads bladder internal pressure from a 0–10 MPa transmitter, ensuring correct pressurization for consistent tire shaping.

  • Automatically generates vulcanization process curve charts for each batch, enabling historical traceability and quality audits.

Advantages

  • Equipment manufacturers can remotely diagnose temperature control issues and other anomalies, reducing on-site service requirements.

  • The X-Series DI boards feature LED signal indicators for quick status checks during maintenance.

  • Using BLRAT remote monitoring, engineers can identify control logic that needs optimization and update the OpenPLC program remotely—minimizing downtime and improving production efficiency.

Impact

By combining ARMxy hardware with OpenPLC and BLRAT remote access, the system enables safer, smarter, and more efficient tire vulcanization, while providing the flexibility for rapid adjustments in response to product specification changes.
